TLDR : Answer Summary
To transfer your retirement extension to your new passport in Thailand, you need to bring both your old and new passports to immigration. This process is typically free of charge and can be done while you wait. It's recommended to have your bankbook with you, just in case the immigration officer wants to check it. Be aware that they may take some time to copy every visa stamp from your old passport, which could use several pages. Overall, the whole process is straightforward and can usually be completed within the day.

Take your bankbook with you - just in case. Don't need to show it yourself, but there is always a possibility the IO might want to check it. Better have it with you and not need to waste time coming back.

It HAS happened.

Paul Jones Does that mean you don't have a bankbook ?

Or the bb doesn't have the required amount in it ?

Does the agent handle all your extensions ?

Take your old passport and your new passport to immigration and they will do it while you wait.

Be aware that they will waste several pages copying every visa stamp and every reentry permit from your past, even ones that have long expired.

Edit: @james Mitchell it’s absolutely true for me in Chiang Mai. If comments weren’t closed I would post a photo as evidence.

Brook Powers that isn't not true, the transfer stamp is 1 whole page, then the re-entry stamp is as normal. Why write crap like that.

Brook Powers Really? My old is an extended passport and was renewed as it's full. Seems strange from them to fill a new passport.
