Having read all the advice on here regarding 12 month extension of a non0 visa ( for retirement) I went to my local immigration office ( Buri Ram ) and asked for a print out of requirement . I then went home , waited for my money to mature (2 months) and then translated the print out.

Unfortunately for me I had taken my partner with me ( to translate) and I ended up with a print out for documentation to support a Thai wife ( which obviously I don’t have) .

So instead of going back to immigration again I’m asking you learned ppl if u can help .

I have…

Passport and 3 copy’s

EVisa and 3 copy’s and 3 copy’s of passport visa stamp

TM30 and 3 copy’s and partners house book ( where I’m living )

6 recent photos passport size

I will get an updated bank confirmation letter on the day I go for extension

Am I missing anything

isn’t it 800,000 for retirement extension

@Anthony *******
Yes but after it's been in for 3 months it can't drop below 400,000

3 months of bank statements if its your 1st extension, otherwise 12 months, letter from the bank addressed to immigration certifying the money in your account. Both of these can be up to 7 days old, but your bank book needs updating on the day you go to apply

3 months is an old rule. . . . . It was changed in 2018 into 2 months of statement, regardless if for the first extension or a follow-up extension. I am very surprised that you don't know this. . . . However, it can happen, some rogue Immigrations ask for a three months statement, to force the applicant to use an agent and pay tea money

@Greg **********
you're confusing the number of statements with the period of time the funds must be in the account. Immigration want 3 months of statements in order to show the funds have been seasoned for 2 months. Every immigration office I'm aware of is happy for 2 months seasoning of funds for a 1st extension. Some, including my own, want 3 months for 2nd and subsequent extensions.

@John *********
sadly, that's not what the police order says, though

I know exactly what the police order says and I know exactly what my immigration demands. Having said that I don't think I've ever, in the last 8 years, had the funds in place a full 3 months before applying and they always give me the extension. Usually accompanied by "next year 3 months" with a smile

since 17 years, I hand in a three months SCB bank statement just in case some officer on Immigration changes his mind on it. I am aware that the seasoning must only be for 2 months

thought I only needed a certificate to confirm money in account for 2 months…. The account is only 2 months old so won’t be able to get a 3 month statement
John **********
@Anthony *******
get a statement from the day you opened the account then. You need to show that the money has been there for 2 calendar months before you can apply. All the certificate is going to do is guarantee the money is there on the day they write the letter
Greg ***********
and on Immigration, you will need to sign two more forms, one of these is STM2 (an acknowledgement of having seen the rules regarding overstay) and the other form I don't remember. Nothing big
Greg ***********
and I forgot: 8. updated on the same day bankbook and you will need to make a small withdrawal at the bank’s ATM and you need to keep the receipt slip, Immigration might want to see it

This would be a typical list of requirements, this one is from Bangkok Chaeng Wattana Immigration.

1. Your passport with the current Non-O visa and arrival stamp.

2. Filled-out application form for extension of stay (often form TM.7 for extension of temporary stay).

3. Recent passport-style photo(s) (typically 4x6 cm) taken within the last 6 months.

4. Copy of the passport biodata page and the visa/entry stamp page(s). Some offices may ask for originals to check.

5. Proof of address/registration in Thailand (for example your current residence address, TM.30 registration if required).

6. Financial proof to meet the minimum amount requirement:

EITHER a bank deposit account in Thailand of at least 800,000 THB

(maintained for at least 2 months before application)

OR a monthly income of at least 65,000 THB (for retirees) Immigration Thailand

Or a combination of deposit + income amounting to at least 800,000 THB

For citizens of countries whose embassies don’t issue Income affidavits, there is no way around the 800K deposit, at least in the first year

7. Bank letter of guarantee (from your Thai bank) confirming the deposit (when using deposit method) plus recent bank statements.

All copies need to get signed by you in blue ink

in Bangkok I need not only the address where I am living, but also a map where they can see where I am living.

@Hans ************
Bangkok is not relevant for the OP as he will apply in Buriram. My listing is only a "typically shown" list of documents, which I expressely stated above. The requirements can vary slightly on Immigration Buriram

For my renewal, At the immigration office by the arena, all I took with me was my girlfriend, lease, and my passport, and the bank letter issued the day of.

The office there handled the photos and copies. Very easy compared to Pattaya.
