Sorry if this has been asked a million time before (as I'm sure it has), but I currently have a non-resident O retirement visa and I want to apply for an extension of stay. What documents are required? Anything I find online is either contradictory or else doesn't seem to apply to my situation. My current visa expires on February 26, so I can apply now... I think.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user holds a non-resident O retirement visa and seeks clarification on the necessary documents for applying for an extension of stay, as existing online information seems contradictory. Comments suggest that required documentation may vary by immigration office but generally include proof of meeting financial requirements, passport copies, a lease agreement, rental house book and owner's ID, a filled TM.7 application form, and a passport-sized photo.

Alternatively, how many times can I leave Thailand and come back in one year on a 30 day stay in lieu of a visa? US citizen.

Useful information! Thanks.

You can only enter the country by a land border on a 30 day visa exempt stamp TWO times in a calendar year. There is no official limit entering by air BUT at some point you're gonna get called on the carpet by someone at passport control because they think you're living here on back-2-back 30 day visa exempt entries.

I'm in Chiangmai, if that's any indication.

@Geo***
, you should keep that TM.30 receipt in your passport (y)

If you're using banked money the bank letter can't be more than a couple days old and the bank book needs to be updated on the date you apply for the extension.

OK, thanks. I used my copy of the TM30 to get my visa. I guess I'll have to get another one from my landlord.

then you are going to need that receipt of having filed a TM.30 and possibly your lease with the land owners thai i/d and house book listing.

Stop by and get the hand out at the Promenada location of the immigration office

the exact documentation is going to vary depending on the immigration office you deal with

proof of meeting the financial requirements

copies of the relevant pages in your passport

lease agreement (possibly)

house book listing and thai i/d card of the owner where you rent (possibly)

filled out TM.7 applocation for extension

passport sized photo

Most immigration offices have a hand out listing what you need to bring, stop by and ask before you do your extension.
