What are the steps to obtain a retirement visa in Thailand, and what documents do I need to prepare for my appointment?

Over 50 USA passport. Trying to obtain a retirement visa in BKK.

I finally jumped through all the hoops and turned in my bank documents and the filled out form for the non-O. My Thai language is non-existent and her English was broken but I'm not sure of the next steps.

I know that I have to come back on May 11th. But I'm not sure which documents I need to bring. Can anyone summarize the process? I paid the 2000 baht and she said all looks good. It looks like my visa is under consideration and I have to return on May 11th for the decision?

I thought she said I need to bring all the same documents again and a TM7. I'm hoping I don't have to get those bank documents again because that took half a day. But I'm at the mercy of immigration so I will gladly comply.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user, an American over 50, is in the process of obtaining a retirement visa (Non-O) in Bangkok and is looking for clarification on the next steps after submitting their application. They have been informed to return on May 11th for a decision but are unsure about the required documents. Comments from the community suggest that for the May 11th appointment, the user should only bring their passport and the receipt of payment. However, for a future one-year extension, specific documents including updated bank letters will be necessary. The community consensus points towards being prepared with all previous documents, including a TM7, even if not explicitly required at this stage.

Update all I did was give them my passport and the receipt that I had paid previously and they stamped my passport with a Non-O. No form was needed and they fast-tracked me

Don't think tm-7 required anymore, but bring anyway.

Should have no problems.

Next week tough as many Thai holidays.

Best of luck

On May 11th you just need to go with your passport and get your Non-O stamped in. No other documents. You'll get the Non-O visa stamp + 90 day stay permit.

When there are fewer than 45 days left on your stay permit, you can apply for the one year extension. THAT'S when you need all the same documents as before, plus a TM7 extension application form, plus 1900 baht. From your posted printout, that means any time after 8th June. You get the one year extension on the same day you apply.

You need all the same documents including new bank letters, just like she said.

have you gone through this process before? I'm surprised I would need the same bank documents because one was proof of foreign transfer which is exactly the same. I could have just made a copy of it. Which I foolishly didn't. I didn't really have time. I was rushing from the bank to the immigration and got there right at 3:38 p.m. the queue was closed but she let me go ahead.

the bank letters can be no older than 7 days. Thus you can't use old letters. It's basically proving the funds are still there, as your bank book also has to be updated the same day.

@Jack ********
you will need it all again including fresh bank letters for the extension but not for the visa stamp, you've already provided that
Russell *******
Once you get the non o visa , you present the same paperwork again with updated bank balance for the extension.

You shouldn't need a โ„ข7 anymore, but I would take everything with you๐Ÿ™

You show up and get the stamp for the non-o 90 days and then prepare for the 1 yr extension.

Think you just need to show up with your passport and the receipt
