Morning guys. I entered Thailand on a multi-entry non-immigrant 'O' based on marriage to my Thai wife. The 90 day stamp expired June 6th and I'm on the amnesty. My wife and I were married in the US and only have a US marriage certificate (no Thai certificate). The consulate I bought the visa at didn't care if it was a US certificate. We have two children with Thai birth certificates and I'm the father on those. Suggestions on what I need to apply for the 60 day extension of stay?

TLDR : Answer Summary
To apply for a 60-day extension of stay based on your marriage, visit the immigration office with your Thai wife. Bring your US marriage certificate and your children's Thai birth certificates, as they may accept either document as proof. It's advisable to confirm directly with the immigration office about the accepted documents.

Best you do first step and ask your IO office as Tod said.

I have same case.

For 60 days my IO in koh Samui said they ok with my old copy from translated married certificate and with the originally thai birth certificate from the half thai child. For 1 year extention they want the original marriage certificate, translated and stamped by my embassy in bangkok. Hope that helps.

@Tod ********
can he get the one month extension first and then the two month family one?

there is no one month extension for people on Non-O visas so nope

You should take your thai wife with you and GO to the immigration office and see if they'll take the US marriage certificate as proof when you apply for the 60 day extension based on marriage OR if you can just use the children's birth certificates.

Call or go there and have your wife ask, all they can say is no.

Thanks. I was able to secure an emergency appointment next Thursday. Has anyone done this before? Any specific language I should include in the blank notary form?

The procedure to get the KR22 generally requires:

1. Get your marriage certificate translated into Thai by a recognized translation company. They need to stamp and certify that is a correct translation.

2. Get your embassy to notarize the form as Todd described saying that the marriage certificate is real.

3. Go to the Thai MFA with all these documents and copies so they can stamp the documents as legal to use in Thailand.

4. Go to your local amphur to register the marriage and request the KR22.

thanks Geoff. My understanding is the US Embassy will not say that the marriage certificate is real. They may notarize a statement from me claiming that it is real but they won’t verify it.

Also have her call your local Amphur and see about how you get a Kor Ror 22 (ค.ร.๒๒) which is the paper that says a thai got married abroad <- and is the paper that the immigration office usually asks for

follow up question. Local Amphur (in Nonthaburi) wants a sworn statement from the US Consulate to provide the Kor Ror 22. My understanding is the US Consulate doesn't provide this anymore. Any experience with this?

@Breck *******
they NEVER certified US wedding certificates, you filled out a blank notary form stating your name your wifes name and that the marriage certificate is real. The ACS division of the US consulate notarizes that paper and that's what you use.

They are doing "emergency notarization" on a case by case basis. Go to the ACS website and look at the notary services tab
