TLDR : Answer Summary
A US citizen looking to apply for a 2-month tourist visa to Thailand should check the specific requirements on the website of the Thai embassy or consulate they are applying through, as these can vary. Starting the eVisa application process is also a recommended way to see the necessary documents needed for the visa. There may also be upcoming changes allowing for easier travel to Thailand that could impact the need for a visa.

Wait until next week, then you may not need to apply for touristvisa if staying up to 60 days.

Just start the evisa and it will tell you what they want

Go to the website of the embassy or consulate you'll be applying through and check their requirements. Each embassy and consulate has their own requirements so you anything you find online that's not from YOUR Thai embassy doesn't matter. Or just go into the evisa application and start the application and you'll see what's required. There's not much needed for a tourist visa.
