Hey guys,

I'm a US citizen. I was just in Thailand from January 15 - 26. I want to go back to Thailand, but this time I want to stay for 2-4 months.Since I have a 30 day visa on arrival and if I come back go Thailand would I get a new 30 day visa? Also how would I be able to stay in Thailand for a few months? Would I just do visa runs in other countries?

TLDR : Answer Summary
A US citizen wanting to stay in Thailand for 2-4 months after a 30-day visa on arrival has multiple options. It is possible to apply for a single entry tourist visa at a Thai consulate in another country in Asia, which grants a stay of up to 60 days and can be extended for an additional 30 days within Thailand. Alternatively, one could opt for a multi-entry tourist visa (METV) for longer stays. Ensure requirements like proof of funds and onward travel are met when applying for a visa.

single entry tourist visa with extension (good for 3 months) and then visit another country and get another visa exempt for another month.

Go to the Thai consulate in KL and get the 6 month METV visa...

said, go to the thai consulate where ever you are in Asia and get a single entry tourist visa.

Depending on where you are and what thai consulate you use you might have to show proof of 20K baht in a bank account, proof of onward travel in 60 days and proof of a hotel booking or confirmed lodging, but you should be able to get a single entry tourist visa without much of a problem.

I forgot to mention that I am in Asia right now and do not want to travel all the way to the US. It would be too expensive to do that.

Why don't you get a single entry tourist visa from a thai consulate in the US before you wing your way back here.

That would get you stamped in for 60 days and you could extend by 30 more inside the country for 1900baht?

Then you could go to a thai consulate in a nearby country and get another single entry tourist visa and extend that by 30 days too
