TLDR : Answer Summary
USA citizens are visa exempt for stays up to 30 days in Thailand. However, travelers may be required to show 20,000 Baht in cash, proof of onward travel, and accommodation details upon entry. Additionally, visas can be extended for another 30 days at an immigration office for a fee.

You can be asked to show the 20.000 Thb or equivalent currency in cash, proof of onward travel and proof of accommodation.

Daniel Schwarting OR the land owner OR the house master OR the possessor of the house, please next time tell them all to provide the correct information and stop telling that it is only one out of the 4 people who can and may make this report.

If you stay in a private house you need to report your address to your Immigration office as well.

OK so as long as I let them know I'll be heading out, (but do not have a fixed date as yet) they will be ok with that?

I have rental House. Do they require more than an address?

proof of onward travel is that you leave the country within the period of stay you get on entry or with added 30 days as Immigration knows you can apply for an extension of stay.
