What documentation do I need to provide for accommodation when applying for a SETV while staying in my own condo in Thailand?

First of all, big thanks and massive respect to the moderators and contributors to this group.

I am Australia and on a 30-day extension of stay after obtaining a SETV in Vientiane, Laos. The extension is about to expire, and I am about to apply a new SETV in KL, Malaysia (it has to be KL for personal reasons).

Prior to these visas/extensions, I have been on Non-B visa (and work permit) for many years, as I have been working and living in Thailand legally.

I have since stopped working in Thailand (work permit etc., cancelled), but want some extra time in Thailand to travel.

My question is that to apply SETV in KL, I have to show accommodation booking for the entire stay in Thailand (which I plan to be 90 days). But, I will be staying at my condo, for which I am on the lease.

On the official website, it says if I am staying at a friend or relative’s place, I have to show invitation letter and copy of their passport/ID Card.

But it doesn’t state what to do if I am staying at a condo of which I am on the lease. Maybe because a tourist shouldn't be on a lease?

Emails to the official email address go unanswered.

Can anybody advise me about what I need to show to meet the accommodation requirement for my situation?

Thank you!

TLDR : Answer Summary
An Australian expat is seeking guidance on the accommodation requirements for applying for a Single Entry Tourist Visa (SETV) at the Thai consulate in Kuala Lumpur. Currently on a 30-day extension in Thailand, the expat needs to provide proof of accommodation for the planned 90-day stay, specifically focusing on residing in their rented condo. The official website's requirements for proof of stay are unclear regarding leases, and the expat is looking for insights on what documentation (like a lease copy) would be acceptable in this situation.

Go to a stationary shop, buy for a few Thb a rental document, fill it in, get your landlord to sign and sign it by yourself. Not that difficult.

it's getting my landlord to Bangkok that will be difficult, but yep, this is what I'll have to do. Thanks again. I really appreciate it.

I would never recommend lying however if you are unable to get a current lease, it may be worth booking hotels that are able to be cancelled for free/pay on arrival and use that as proof of where you intend to stay initially.

it sounds like IF you're going to use your lease as proof of lodging you're gonna hafta get a valid lease. I highly doubt they're gonna accept an expired lease as proof :/

Thank you. Yes, it seems so. I'll get onto that. But good to know I can actually use a lease even when applying as a tourist. Thanks again!

remember the thai consulate in K/L went to an online appointment booking system. You can't just walk up anymore.

. Yes, I made an appointment online already. Hopefully it makes it a smooth and relatively quick process!

Show your lease, it should include a copy of everyones ID as part of the lease too ... that’s what I do

Jodi Hammond you’re welcome, yeah I’ve always used my lease which covers the entire period anyway and good to know KL specifically requires the entire period, good luck 🙂

Thank you again. Yeah, on the website

it says

"A copy of reservation/confirmation of accommodation **for the whole stay in Thailand.**

If staying with a friend/relative, please submit his/her invitation letter and a copy of his/her identity

card/passport."

Really appreciate your advice about the lease and the lease dates. Thank you so much.

the KL consulate is VERY specific as far as the requirement for proof of lodging being for your entire stay. did you get a tourist visa from the thai consulate in KL by showing just a few days hotel stay?

Jodi Hammond mine states a current period, if yours does not then it’s not really current.

You need to have CURRENT lease or other proof of accomodation for the relevant period you will apply for Visa...but never heard it had to be for whole 60-90 days, I thought even first few days hotel stay was sufficient 🤔

Glen Shkolar thank you for quick advice! Does your lease show current year? Mine was started in 2017 and has just rolled over to now, but doesn't have 2019 mentioned.

Also, do you have to show landlord ID as well?

What you think about a copy of the lease as proof that you rent that condo and plan to stay there?

Thank you Robert
@La***
for such a quick reply. My lease was one year from 2017, but like all leases here (I believe), it just carries on after the first 12 months with no new dates. So, would it suffice as being 'current'?

Also, I guess I was worried showing I was on a lease may jeopardize my application for *tourist* visa. I guess this isn't the case?
