Hi all,

I am looking for clarification about staying with a host while on SETV.

We are going to be visiting the Thai Consulate in Denpasar, Bali. Their site says for the checklist to bring, ...

Letter of sponsorship from the host (copy of the host’s ID card, or passport and stay permit, proof of accommodation ownership)

"proof of accommodation ownership"

Are they now requiring this at all consulates? And if so would a rental agreement work for that retirement??

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking clarification on documents required for staying with a host while on a Tourist Visa (SETV) in Thailand, specifically regarding the necessity of a 'proof of accommodation ownership'. They plan to visit the Thai Consulate in Bali and want to know if all consulates now require this and if a rental agreement would suffice.

of course you could get around this by just making a hotel reservation for a week or so and using that as proof of lodging..

We have done that in the past, Thank you Tod Daniels. Have you ever heard that's a problem since we have booked/canceled at hotels in the past.?

and while your experiences are anecdotally interesting you have to realize that EVERY thai consulate in the world is not as easy going as the ones in the west. In fact some are hard core.

I realize that. I just didn’t see a line in the form that was that rigid. And I assumed the forms were basically the same

I have never been asked any of this (USA) and I just got my third one. I list the first hotel we stay at when we land in Bangkok.
