Do I need to provide proof of accommodation and insurance for my 90-day STV extension in Thailand?

I'm on an STV visa and will need to go get my first 90 day extension soon.

On my visa it already says "Insurance/Rent until Aug 30th"

So will I still need to show proof of this stuff when I go to get the extension or will they see that the embassy already checked and approved these things?

I can bring the same proof I gave the embassy but my only concern is that the embassy approved my accommodation even though the lease on my apartment only has my girlfriend's name on it.

When we rented the apartment I was on visa amnesty and the landlord wouldn't add me to the lease because I technically didnt have a current visa.

The embassy accepted a letter from my girlfriend but I'm wondering if the immigration office will do the same without an issue.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The poster is on a Special Tourist Visa (STV) and inquires whether they need to show proof of accommodation and insurance for their 90-day extension, given that their lease is under their girlfriend's name and was previously accepted by the embassy. Responses highlight that the immigration office will likely require documentation regardless of embassy approval, specifically proof of accommodation, insurance, and several other documents when applying for the extension. It is recommended to gather all necessary paperwork in advance.

I’m in the same boat pretty much, heading to CW this week to see what they say regarding the accommodation since the lease is in my girlfriends name

Be prepared for a battle, they refused to extend mine because I didn’t have a TM30 receipt from my ASQ hotel, everything listed above is also needed

They didn't check to see if the other paperwork was complete?

Did you ask the hotel if they can provide you with the receipt?
Nic ********
@Dave **********
Nope I haven’t contacted the hotel, I know they wont have done it with the online system being down at the time. They only checked over my insurance, didn’t get to the accommodation part before telling me they couldn’t do it.

Think its very much dependant on the officer you get whether you are getting an extension unfortunately.

I assume you weren't too set on trying to get the extension then?

Just FYI, went back with email from hotel saying they hadnt filed a tm30 - different immigration officer didn’t even ask for it this time, got the extension no problem. Very much luck of the draw it would seem.

Thanks for the update.

And no issue with accomodation?

What did you show them?

Letter from girlfriend, copy of ID and copy of lease and latest payment receipt?

My girlfriends lease was sufficient, nothing else required, she was with me this time though

Is that normal for a hotel to provide a TM30 receipt? I've never received one from a hotel in all the years I've come to Thailand. Were you able to get one from them?

I just went yesterday and got the TM30 with my girlfriend's apartment lease. Did you have a TM30 registration from when you moved into your girlfriend's apartment?

What did they say about the accommodation proof with your girlfriend's apartment? Did they accept that?
Nic ********
No its not normal, and the online system was down when I did ASQ so it wont have been done. No chance of me getting the receipt. I filed a TM30 at my girlfriends address when I left ASQ and had that receipt with me.

They didn’t even get to checking future accommodation they told me they couldnt extend without the above.

Complete joke of a visa, i’ll be going home instead 😂 so much for promoting tourism

They won't care at all that you have that written on the visa.

You will need the following to get a 90 day extension on your STV entry stamp

-proof of ASQ

-proof of insurance coverage for the next 90 days

-proof of where you stayed this last 90 days

-proof of where you will stay this next 90 days

Copies of

-data page of your passport

-STV visa sticker

-red entry stamp

-TM6 departure card

-TM30 receipt (depending on the immigration office)

filled out TM7 application for extension and a passport sized photo, 1900baht

Does immigration inside thailand accept a letter and copy of the rental contract the same way the embassy did then?

And who is responsible for doing the TM30? The landlord or my girlfriend?

Can we do the TM30 ourselves if the landlord wont?
Tod *********
@Dave **********
seeing as you are the one who might need the TM30 receipt (and be the one fined for not having it and needing to go file it) at the end of the day who is actually responsible doesn't really matter.

IF they require you to have a TM30 receipt you need one.

Take your g/f along with her lease, go to the MTT immigration office Counter B and file a TM30. Worst case they fine you 800baht for not having filed one when you moved in there.

Well it does seem to matter because if the landlord is responsible how will we be able to file it without him being there? Everything I've read seems to indicate that if you dont own the condo/apartment the actual building owner needs to do the regiatration.

I would rather know now if I need to try and get something from them before I travel all the way to Chaengwattana.

@Da**
you don't file a TM30 at Chaengwattana you file it at Muang Thong Thani (like I said in my previous post).

Careful believing everything you read on the inter-web, it might not necessarily be true :P In Bangkok you can "self file" <- which means file on your own without any paperwork from the land lord.

But I'll bow out now and leave you to it, good luck, take care, stay safe :)

I wasnt aware that's what MTT stood for. But thanks.

The information I was going by was from the immigration website so I assumed that would be reliable.

It says that if the head of household doesnt own the condo you need the paperwork from the owner. I didnt see any distinction for different locations.

Clearly I'm not "believing everything I read on the interwebs" since I'm here seeking first hand information 🤷‍♂️

better go 3days before your visa expiration just to be sure.

I'll be going a lot sooner than that but someone else must have done an STV visa renewal with the future date for their full insurance and accommodation coverage and can confirm if immigration asked for all the relevant paperwork again.
