Hey guys, i have three questions about a thai visa, i hope you can help me:

1) I am not sure yet how long i wanna stay in Thailand, but at least for 2-3 month. Would you advise that i am getting a single entry tourist visa (60 days), extend that in a thai embassy for another 30 days and if i decide to stay longer do a border run for another single entry visa?

2) Also i am planning to book a one way ticket only. I am aware that i need an onward flight out of thailand. Does it need to be in the 60 days periode or is it fine in the 90 days periode?

3) A friend of mine can only stay for max. 60 days, does he also need a tourist visa or can he extend his 30 day standard visa in a thai embassy for another 30 days?

Appreciate your answers, thanks a lot in advance!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires about the best visa strategy for a stay of at least 2-3 months in Thailand, including obtaining a single-entry tourist visa with potential extensions and border runs. They also seek clarification on onward flight requirements related to their visa duration and ask whether a friend with a 60-day maximum stay needs a tourist visa or can extend a standard 30-day visa. Responses suggest considering the 6-month METV, requirements for proof of onward travel, and details about extending an entry.

Not sure how long you want to stay in Thailand...buy the 6 month METV it will give you enough time to ponder that question

The proof of onward travel is more a requirement of the thai consulate you buy your tourist visa at and of airline that you use coming here, you won't be asked to show onward trav when you stamp into thailand.

If its only the consulate thats fine, i could just book another ticket. But not that the airline is making problems.

some consulates accept it some won't. Again it's up to the consulate where you're applying for the visa at.

So that means the flight just needs to be in the 60 day periode? Is it fine to just book any flight here:

you shouldn't have a problem getting a single entry tourist visa that will stamp you in for 60 days and then extend it for 30 days at the thai immigration office for 1900baht.

Your friend could come in on a 30 day visa exempt entry (if his country gets them coming here) and then extend it for 30 days at the immigration office for 1900baht too.

Thanks Tod! So no problems for me to get another single entry visa again after those 90 days (given that i leave the country before the end of this periode)?

But probably my friend need to book an onward fligth during this first 30 day periode right?
