Hi All,

For the Thai spouse 1 year immigration house visit (We live Chiang Mai, house visit is Monday) I cannot find much info on what happens , length of visit , if they will question my wife and I etc? We have our Thai witness lined up to prove we live together.

Any input on the visit process would be much appreciated.

TLDR : Answer Summary
During the Thai spouse immigration house visit, the length and details can vary based on the specific immigration office and location. Generally, officials may ask questions about the couple's living arrangements, their relationship, and may speak with witnesses such as neighbors or relatives. Some individuals reported that visits could last anywhere from 10 to 30 minutes, during which officers may take photos and observe the home environment. The primary focus of the visit is to verify that the couple lives together, and the questions asked are typically straightforward.

in Chiang mai 4 officers came to our home. Each requested 1000bt tea money

Previously I was married to a pretty decent Thai woman, and also never had any visits from IO guys, but many of them visited the application home, as said by a few people's replies above - it's a rather new move by them, say 10 years, properly came from fake/rent a Thai wife for your Thai visa extensions, also unrecorded marriage certificate was also sold, mostly to Asians, aka Indian was the first line, I've also seen, rather simple to get the husband extension revoked by the Thai wife, husband PP and a little talk to an interested IO, seems the other side, have no say,

Ok thanks for the comment.

They are looking to see if you actually live together. Their questions are just to pass time. What they are concerned with is what they see that lets them know you are in fact living together.

With us in Udon, one man came and interviewed our neighbour/family friend who we had arranged to come over. The IO asked her how long she had known us, etc. He then had pictures taken of my wife and I and friend in front of our house number and one picture with him in front if the number too. We showed him around the outside if the house, but he didn't go inside. All tolled less than a half hour.

They visited us once and took the photo that we submitted for extension, in front if the house with house number, bedroom, living room, dining room and asked a few questions. How long we've lived in this house, with whom, do we know the neighbors, house belongs to whom. 10-15 mins.

I was in Ubon. They came and we were not even home. They FaceTime’d us and we had a small chat.

When we were done they spoke briefly to my mother in law. Asked simple things like where we married and when.

Asked a few neighbors if they have seen me there. Do I stay there often.

Very simple basic things. They didn’t even go in the house I built behind the mother in laws house.

We've never had a house visit. My wife has a blue book and been married 12 years.

I'm on my 6th yearly extension in Bangkok. Never had a home visit. Home is 10 minutes drive from Changwattana too.. seems it's a lottery in bkk.

Thanks Steve. Similar to you my missus and I are close in age (3 years apart) , been married 7.5 years, spent most of our marriage living together in UK before we relocated to Thailand last September. Financially sound.

Should all be fine. Appreciate you taking time to comment.

. Only explanation I can come up with is wife and I are close in age, live in family home and both of us are financially sound.

Don't sweat over it, if your marriage is genuine ,you have nothing to be concerned about .

or me, they wanted to look around our home. They asked most question to my neighbour on how well he knew us and what name he called me.

That would be very office specific. Mention the office you’d use and others may be able to give you specific information.

ok that’s cool. I can’t help with that office or their requirements but I know we’ve got a lot of members up there. Some may be married too 😀
