TLDR : Answer Summary
During an immigration home visit in Thailand, expect the immigration officers to verify your relationship with your Thai partner by taking photos and obtaining details from a witness. The visit typically lasts between 15 to 30 minutes. They may ask questions about your relationship, check your living conditions, and take pictures of you and your partner outside your home with the house number visible. Make sure to have copies of your witness's ID and any relevant documents ready. Different regions may have varying requirements and processes.

They will interview the witnesses, check out the bathroom, look at area, ask questions like how long you been in Thailand, how long here etc. I remember mine is it lasted 20 minutes max. Offer drinks and snacks, maybe some lunch money.

In Chiangrai, IO was very kind but thorough. Took many photos inside outside, with IO and some with the witness. Copied witness ID and I think his tabian ban. Witness had to sign forms. He watched how I interacted with everyone we came in contact with. He traveled a long way to see us and it was lunchtime, I wanted to ask him to lunch, but didn’t know if it was appropriate.

I live in Kanchanaburi and we have a home visit every year. They'll ring you in advance, come, speak to your partner and witness, they normally want copies of witness ID, sign some papers, take some pictures of you and your partner outside your house with the house number and that's it. Every immigration is a bit different though.

I've ever had one.in 14 yrs in Phuket.... .. But we (my Thai wife and I) had to produce photos of us together in the house, and together in the front of house showing the house number on the gate. Wasn't asked to produce a witness. Different interpretation of requirements by different regions... I guess.

I had 4 IO's visit, then took some photos, wrote some paperwork out, asked the witnesses if they knew me, how long they had known me and if i was married. They were friendly and took about 30 minutes.

and you have gotten yearly extensions based on marriage to a thai all those years?

Before in Bangkok they didn't do in home visits but this year they started doing them. I know probably 20-30 people who have had them for marriage extensions in Bangkok now.

they usually don't do in home visits for retirement extensions, only marriage or raising thai children AND sometimes extensions based on employment.

I have had a home visit on retirement extension here in Sukhothai some years ago. I got the feeling they didn't have much happening in the office.

They take a few photos and get the details off your Thai witness.
