For the NON-O Thai spouse visa owners.

Do you also have the visit from the Thai immigration officers? They called me all day today and I ignored their calls as I dont answer to unknown numbers, then they called my wife saying that they will visit us tomorrow. My neighboor has to be a witness. It's the 2nd time I am doing this visa... Just want to know if it happens to others too. Cheers!!

Big thread on this very subject on the darkside forum. Lots of people all over the country reporting being visited.

Could be part of the clampdown on scam marriages and orders have been issued to up the checks.

Yes, it is fine for me. No problems. They do their job. I wish they would do the same in my country... ๐Ÿ™„

Ju Averous the thread also seems to point out that they have a list of people known to be over staying in the areas they are visiting. One guy was in his garden and they happened to be driving by, saw him and done an inspection there and then.

The pattern also seems to be in out of the way, off the track places. We've had them in the condo here before. They turn up unannounced, get a list of foreigners from the JPM and simply knock on the door for a passport and visa check. They are nice enough and no problem. Just doing there job.

Exactly, that's what they said to my wife. There are lots of scam marriages. Also, they said that the fact that we do not have kids is more suspicious.

Couples with kids are more likely to be a real family than couples without.

Seems you applied for an Extension of Stay at your local Immigration Office and you got 1 months under consideration stamp in your passport. During this month Immigration of Police can visit your house to check that you really live at that address with your wife. I had several times local Police at the house for this:

Andy Zingo They want a picture with you, they want to see your passport. If needed he even might ask to use the toilet or a glas of water.

Actually yes I do. I have just renewed my visa last week , waiting for the approval on september.

Im sure there wont be any problems just as last year but I was wondering if it happens to others too.

I depend on the samut prakan immi. , apparently they do the job quite seriously there.

Thanks guys for you quick answers!!

Yes, happens more. They did ask me in the past what neighbours they could visit to use as a witness.

Many immigration offices do a home visit each time you apply for a new yearly extention of stay.
