Hello everyone! I have another question regarding long stay visa ( married to Thai).

I am currently on covid extension but am planning to do a visiting thai family, and after that, a married to Thai visa. Me and my wife are in Thailand for a year sabbatical. The thing is we currently have a tabien ban at her family’s house but we are looking to rent our own apartment/condo. Also, as we travel around Thailand quite a lot we might be moving every 2-3 months from one condo to another. I understand to have a married to Thai visa you need a fixed tabian ban and take photos of your place with our personal belonging inside etc etc but since we are moving quite a lot this might be difficult.

What do you think is the best option for this kind of situation? Should I leave my tabian ban as is or should I have one made everytime we move which is gonna be a real hassle?

Thank you for your help!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The individual is seeking advice on how to manage their visa situation while moving frequently between residences in Thailand. They currently hold a Covid extension and plan to apply for a Married to Thai visa. Key points include the need for a fixed Tabien Ban for the visa application and concerns about managing residence changes. Comments provide guidance on the importance of having a stable residence during the application and extension process, as well as clarification on the necessity of filing a TM30 at each residence.

well
@Sh***
, you're gonna hafta HANG TIGHT at that address when you get the 90 day Non-O issued (because of the under consideration period it goes under) AND then again when you get the year extension during the 30 day under consideration period (because that's when they make the home visit).

Other than that you're able to travel as you want to

BUT

if I was to hazard a guess i'd say your ability to stay IN thailand long term far outweighs your ability to travel for a couple months. get the Non-O, get the year then worry about traveling. Believe me none of the places you wanna go to are going anywhere, they'll be there after you get your year extension granted :P

I have a non o immigrant visa already but I couldn’t do an extension for 90 days as I was asked to leave the country and basically do a visa run but with covid, that was impossible which is why I got a 60 day covid extension in the first place. And to season the required money in the bank (2months ) in order to obtain the married to Thai visa for 1 year, I have to make a 60 day visiting Thai family visa when my covid extension expires. Quite a complicated situation 😅😅😅

@Sh***
, be aware that you can get 60dasy visiting family extension only once per entry.

thank u 🙏 yes I understand that

, all you didn't say you had a Non-O already and went to the 60 day extension because you didn't get your money into the account in time to season it when you were stamped in for 90 days on that Non-O.

All you're going to be doing then is applying for a year extension for 1900 baht, getting a 30 day under consideration stamp, probably getting an in home visit during that time and then go back and get your year extension inked in. THEN you're free to travel

I think you have your wires crossed a bit.

You need to have a TM30 filed at the immigration office where you're applying for your 90 day Non-O visa based on marriage and the extension (which you would get from the same office)

Once you get the extension you can move but you'd have to file a new TM30 every place you're staying to be able to do 90 day reporting at that office. SO I'd say just get the 90 day Non-O and the year extension at the office where your primary residence is, then travel how ever you want.

You don't need a thai house book (ทะเบียนบ้าน) to get the Non-O visa or the year extension.

Thanks again everyone for your help im still quite confused as of why we cannot travel during the consideration period, I mean you could travel and still be living at a place ... also if the immigration officers come for a surprise visit and I’m not there, my relatives are there and can always tell the immigration I’m just away for a day and will be back the next or whatever 😂

@Shawn *******
and sadly that you're confused by it is neither here nor there :/

You're looking for logic where there is none.

During the under consideration period they do home inspection and you NEED to be there, (not have relatives say you'll be back). ;)

That's how it works to get a year extension based on marriage.

When you go to apply for the year extension ASK them if you can travel around and see what they say.

If they tell you that you can, then you can, if they say you can't then you can't until AFTER you go get the year extension inked in.

It's not brain science or rocket surgery here

AND

it's only a 30 day under consideration period, One more time I will mention that your ability to stay IN the country far outweighs you wanting to travel around

Good luck,

I think you got your answers and are just belaboring the point that you don't feel you need to sit tight during the under consideration period. Take it up with your immigration office when you apply for the year extension. They would be the ones to tell you what you can and can't do :)

My question is - does this mean I need to be at the same address in Thailand during this whole process? Does the under consideration stamp "reset" if I were to move to another city? What about leaving Thailand for the United States? Will this be possible while I am waiting for these extensions? Thank you!

@Erin *********
nope, you leave you lose the extension while it's under consideration

you stay at the same place and you go BACK to the same immigration office to get the under consideration stamp changed to the extension

I have a related question, as this is the first time I am hearing about the TM30. I am planning to arrive visa exempt, get married, and the apply for the non-O visa based on marriage. The steps I was told were " - go to the immigration office pay 2000baht and apply for an in country 90 day Non-O visa based on marriage to a thai, get an under consideration stamp

- when that stamp runs out go back to the immigration office, get your Non-O visa and a new 90 day stamp

- when that stamp runs down to back to the immigration office pay 1900baht and apply for a year extension based on marriage, get a 30 day under consideration stamp

- when that stamp runs down to back to the immigration office and get the year extension inked in."

the only problem with doing that is the immigration office may come and do a “surprise inspection” at the house where we are registered but then our personal belongings won’t be there anymore will be at the flat we will be renting.

@Shawn *******
You have to use the immigration office where YOU are registered using the TM30. I recommend using the immigration office where you two actually live, just incase.
Tod *********
Just curious are you saying YOU have a yellow thai house book (the one that foreigners can get) or are you saying your wife is registered in the house book of her families house?

@Tod ********
thank you for your tips 🙂 my wife is registered to a tabian ban and that is where I have a resident certificate and tm30
Tod *********
@Shawn *******
then like Benjamin said make sure you apply for the 90 day Non-O visa and then the year extension at that office.
