Can I apply for a 60-day family extension after marrying a Thai citizen while on visa amnesty?

Help please! FAMILY EXTENSION? MARRIAGE VISA?

Arrived in March on 30 day visa-waiver, not extended, and automatically therefore now on visa amnesty until end of September.

I own a condo in Bangkok for 7 years already and spend a lot of time each year in and out of Thailand, but stay in my condo on tourist visa-waivers when I’m here.

I am getting married to a Thai on September 1st.

QUESTION: Can I get a 60 day family extension after I’m officially married?

- If yes, it sounds like I need a TM30 (never heard of that before), is that right? And it so, how do I go about that as a condo owner?

- I need 400kTHB in my bank account moving forward for the marriage visa, is that the case?

- Would the correct way to be from amnesty, to 60-day family visit extension (and how do I do that?), then move to non-O for 3 months, then marriage?

God this is hard work! 😂

Thank you to everyone who spends the time on this page to help people through the goodness of their heart. Lifesavers, every one of you! 🙏🏼

TLDR : Answer Summary
The post discusses the author's current visa situation in Thailand, where they are on a visa amnesty following a 30-day visa waiver. The author plans to marry a Thai citizen and seeks clarity on applying for a 60-day family extension post-marriage, reporting TM30 as a condo owner, and whether they need to maintain 400,000 THB in their bank account for the marriage visa. Responses indicate mixed experiences with obtaining the extension and emphasize the importance of visiting the local immigration office after the marriage to verify eligibility.

The 400K in the bank must show funds from overseas or is it again depending on different immigration branches?

It has to be transferred from abroad when you apply Non-O in-country unless you have valid work permit. It's not something varied by offices.

, I guess OP needs to report TM30 as mentioned. Is it possible for him on amnesty to report? Then what he needs for reporting as foreigner condo owner?

depends on the immigration office. Some want it done no later than 24 business hours after starting to stay at the property, and some don't.

thanks! What's Bangkok policy? I know Kanchanaburi is just strange on their policies.

okay, lets cut the fluff out of your story :O

This is what I took away as the facts;

You are on a 30 day exempt entry that went to amnesty,

you are supposed to get married on Sept 1st

you're wondering if AFTER that you can apply for the 60 day visit thai family extension

Then after that go for the 90 day Non-O visa based on marriage by meeting the requirements of having 400K baht in a thai bank account transferred in from abroad when you apply.

The truth of the matter is; some offices are granting the 60 day visit family extension from people in your situation (30 day visa exempt on amnesty) BUT some offices are not.

SO what it's gonna take is you getting married and then going with your thai wife to the immigration office you use to see if you can or can't get that 60 day visit family extension issued.

You normally need a valid stamp on your passport if you want to get married.

perfect. Thank you. I’ll do that. Where can I find a list of offices to try please? For example, in Bangkok MTT is one of them, is that correct?

@Johnny *****
you don't get to pick and choose where you can go. IF you're in Bangkok AND you entered on a 30 day visa exempt entry you go to the Muang Thong Thani office to try to see if you can get the 60 day visit family extension

Here's where you go AFTER you're married in 19 more days..

read that topic I just posted about no reports from people actually getting a 60 day visit family extension since this last amnesty started. I made it to get feedback from people to see what's what..
