US citizen, arrived in December on OA Retirement visa. Completed ASQ on Dec 28 and moved to Rattanaburi, Surin to stay with girlfriend.

In early January went to Rattanaburi District Office with girlfriend to check in, register, TM-30 etc.. They appeared to not know what I was talking about. They saw my visa/passport was valid etc. and sent me on my way.

Not sure what to do next. Am I violating some reporting rule? any further steps that I should be taking?

TLDR : Answer Summary
A US citizen who arrived in Thailand on an OA Retirement visa should file their TM-30 registration at the immigration office specific to their province, rather than a local district office. Since the individual is staying in Surin province, they should visit the Kap Choeng immigration office to ensure proper compliance with immigration regulations and for any required 90-day reporting.

I live near Rattanaburi myself and i always go to the Surin immigration office near the Cambodian border (about 240 km return trip). The local district office does not deal with immigration matters.

I think your problem is; you don't check in or file a TM30 at the district office you do it at the immigration office for your province.

Which means if you're in Surin province you file a TM30 at the Kap Choeng immigration office. AND that's where you'll be doing your 90 day reporting too.
