Hi all.

I arrived in Thailand this week on a 90 day non-O based on retirement, obtained from the London embassy.( I've just turned 50)

I should have the 800k transferred in 2 weeks. I believe I must have it sitting in a Thai bank account for 2 months before I apply for the yearly extension, and 3 months after, not dropping below 400k during the rest of the year

How early and how late can I apply for the extension? Is it possible to apply as late as day 89 for example?

I'll be extending in Jomtien immigration.

Thank you.

you're totally able to apply for your yearly extension from 30 days before your stamp expires right on down to the last day of your current 90 day Non-O entry stamp.

BUT

Cutting it to the last day or so means IF you don't get it right, you're gonna run on overstay to sort it out ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

and

It's totally up to the immigration office as far as if they would let you run on overstay and then apply for the year extension while you get the documents sorted or you exit/re-enter and start the whole process from square one again getting a new Non-O visa

you got here this week, if you get the funds in within 2 weeks you'll have at least a week or so left on your current 90 day stamp when you hit the 2 month seasoning of funds mark. I'd go to the immigration office after you get the funds here, get the hand out listing the documents required and be ready to move on it as soon as you can so you have time in case you don't get it right the first try ๐Ÿ™‚

Question: in this case the 800k เธฟ in thai bank should come from abroad labelled as international transaction? Thank you ๐Ÿ™

thank you ๐Ÿ™

when is not necessary to proof it?

@Davide ******
let's get this straightened out, IN the case of the O/P <- who came in to the country on an existing Non-O visa they bought from the thai consulate in their country before they showed up here (where they got stamped in for 90 days) there is NO proof of funds origin required at all for the 800K baht banked money they are using for the year extension

SOME offices (Bangkok especially) requires you to show proof that the funds originated from abroad when applying for the initial 90 day Non-O visa ONLY. Other offices do not care if it was a domestic transfer or an international one

thank you ๐Ÿ™

So in this case he doesn't need to proof it, right?

@Davide ******
in this case, As they came in with a Non-O visa there should be no proof of funds origin required just the 2 month seasoning before they apply BUT they're using Jomtien and that place makes up it's own rules as they see fit SO I'd certainly slog on in before I was gonna apply for the extension and see what's what with them and he said he IS transferring the funds in so if they did require it he's covered

@Davide ******
it's Best to Ask your local Thai immigration office for their requirement.. as it varies between offices

I suggest you ask the Thai Immigration office in Jomtien your question and for their list of requirements for the Non O Visa as retiree and the One year extension of stay as retired.

Jomtien Immigration is known for its own set of requirements.

It is never wise to wait until the last days by before your 90 days end. Doing so creates a problem for you if you have something else missing.

Here's the common found requirements for the One year extension of stay as retired .
