Hello All, for those who want to do Non 0 /retirement in Bangkok these are the later requirements as of last week Nov 14 2023. I went yesterday, submitted all the paper work and was told to come back in about 2 weeks to get my passport stamped. All seems to be going smooth. Anything else I should do/expect? Thank you all.

TLDR : Answer Summary
As of November 14, 2023, the process for obtaining a Non-O retirement visa in Bangkok involves submitting necessary paperwork and returning about two weeks later for passport stamping. Key requirements include proof of funds from abroad, and a rental contract of at least three months may be needed. Questions arose about fund maintenance duration before application, processes for applying while on a tourist visa, and the specifics of obtaining the 90-day entry stamp after the initial submission.

When doing the „change“ from a tourist visa or visa-exempt to a 90-days Non-Imm-O retirement visa, it will always be handed out with a „14 days under consideration” notice. After the 14 days you then need to visit Immigration and will get the 90-days entry stamp and the Non-imm-O visa stamped into your passport.

I don’t get the rental receipt for 3 months. How is anyone entering Thailand as tourist, securing a place (2-6 weeks) and then stay over 90 days after moving and be able to apply for the non-o without exceeding the

days till visa expires?

Does this mean a lease contact of at least 3 months?

I wondered the same.

please can you help clarify? Does section 8 refer to the previous 3 months? Or does it mean for at least 3 months hence? Thanks

i think they want you to show a lease for a minimum of 3 months into the future

That way you're holding the same address for the 90 day Non-O and then 2 months later for the year extension.

Show up on the date stamped on the receipt with your passport, get a queue for the "results counter" in Section C-1 where you applied and go wait for your number to be called.

They'll stamp the new Non-O visa and a new 90 day entry stamp into your passport and you're done..

Then you can apply for a year extension any time when you have 45 days or less left on that new 90 day stamp over in section L-1 for 1900baht..

When you go back to get that Non-O and 90 day stamp inked in stop over in section L-1 and get the hand out listing the requirements for the year extension

On Wise there is a Reason for Transfer section with one being Long Term Stay in Thailand. Helpfully the reasons are not in alphabetical order but the last time I looked it was the very last reason. Selecting this gives the FTT Code at your bank shown on the statement.

The only drawback is it takes 24 hours to reach your bank as opposed to a few seconds with other reasons

I have used the long term stay every time even though i don't need to, i still average 6 seconds transfer not 24 hours. It takes only 6 seconds because the transfer is done within Thailand so there is no FTT coding. But if i needed it i would just ask the bank.

Advice of credit letter from the bank. My bank could not provide of one, because Wise used a different Thai bank to transfer funds from my US bank to my Thai account. If I had opened the account in the bank Wise used, it would be no problem.

if you are from the United States and you are using Bangkok Bank you can transfer your money domestically to the Bangkok branch in New York. Then they will transfer it to your branch in Thailand and it will show as an FTT (Foreign Telegraphic Transfer on your bank book.

ah ok and i guess for the extension the proof of funds coming from abroad is not requested for those who have been issued O visa retirement outside Thailand?

the proof of funds origin is only in Bangkok and only for getting the initial 90 day Non-O visa, once you have that there is no requirement that the funds come from abroad to get the year extension

that is totally dependent on your receiving bank and how the incoming transfers code, this isn't gonna turn into an "I move money on WISE to thailand will it work thread" sorry, LOOK at the transfer codes on the bank book of the thai bank account and see if they coded international or domestic
