Thought I would share my visa journey at Hua Hin immigration (retirement)

1) I already had a Thai bank account so I made sure I moved over the 800K

2) i obtained a tourist eVisa in my home country. I should have gotten a non O but I thought it had an insurance requirement (US) but they recently dropped this to align with all the other consulates around the world.

3) entered Thailand on the SETV

4) got all the bank paperwork and house owners info and applied for a Non O. Went back 2 weeks later for stamping of the 90 days.

5) 45 days later I went to get the yearly extension for 1900 baht and a reentry permit for 1000 baht. I didn’t have a tm30 because my new landlord would not do it. I was worried about it but the immigration officer didn’t seem to care and I think she did it for me. She stapled a ‘Receipt of notification’ in my passport which I think was proof of my new address.

I did change addresses between steps 4 and 5 which I thought would cause confusion but it didn’t.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The poster shares their experience applying for a retirement visa (Non O) in Hua Hin, Thailand. They detail their journey starting from securing 800,000 THB in a Thai bank account, obtaining a tourist eVisa, entering Thailand, and finally applying for the Non O visa with required documentation. They mention the successful submission despite changing addresses and omitting the TM30 form, indicating positive feedback from the immigration officer, who provided a receipt of notification. The discussion includes comments clarifying certain aspects, such as the importance of the 90 day report, the luck involved in the process, and an inquiry about the need for a hand-drawn map of the residence.

Thanks John that's great info. Did you have to provide a hand drawn map of where you are staying?

You were lucky. It would not have worked at my office.

The "Receipt of notification" is not a TM30, that's your TM47 90 day report. It should have a date on it which will be when your first/next 90 day report is due.
