As in the Beatles song, “did it with a little help from my friends”. First retirement Visa one year extension done.

So now I need to check is every 90 days, correct.

1. what is the window of time for first check in?

2. After first 90 day checkin I can then complete on the internet, correct?

Now living with my GF in her house just outside Chiang Rai, and just started planning road trip to checkout more of Thailand. Advise welcome, trips can be month long plus. Thinking of a big loop maybe down the east boarder, down to the southern end and then back up west boarder. Runs with or without car to neighboring countries advise also welcome.

TLDR : Answer Summary
After receiving a one-year extension on your retirement visa in Thailand, you need to report every 90 days, which is based on your date of entry into the country rather than your visa status. The first 90-day report can be filed online starting 14 days before the due date, but you can also do it in person up to 7 days after the due date without incurring a fine. If you leave Thailand before your report is due, your reporting period resets upon your return. Living in Chiang Rai with your girlfriend, you have also started planning a road trip to explore more of Thailand.

Please share the steps it took to get this. How long in Thailand before you can apply for it? I am in USA. Thank

The photo you posted is a single reentry permit, not your visa or extension of star stamp.

The 90 days report is not linked to the visa or extension of permit to stay. It is linked to the date of entry. You have to report 90 days after your last date of entry. Every time you leave the country and come back the 90 days counting re-starts. If you travel overseas every 85 days, you never report 90 days. The online reporting works sometimes, and sometimes not, difficult to predict.

Ludwig Reichhold all this stuff will be something that I may be going through from 2025 onwards, so I watch with curiosity and hopefully remember and learn from.

Just on your point of theoretically (if that's the right word) "travel overseas every 85 days, you never need to report", is that allowed 'never reporting'every 90 days? From watching many Posts in the group over a period of 6-8 months, it seems to me that this 'reporting' is a compulsory part of gaining a Visa (some anyway). If what you say is theoretically possible, I wonder what the point of reporting is 🤔

My goal, by the way, is that I will marry my Thai ladyfriend in the next couple of years and when I reach Australian retirement age and qualify for the Australian aged pension, move to Thailand on either a Retirement or Marriage Visa, whichever is the easiest and best option for me.

Colin Boyland I am on a married visa extension and need to report every 90 days when I am in Thailand for more than 3 months. A few years a go I used to travel out and in every month, I never had to do a 90 day report, no problem.

while you never had to do a 90 day report while travelling so often, you would have had to do the TM30's as Steven de Blaquiere said, right?
Ludwig ***********
Colin Boyland this depends which immigration office you are reporting to. In Chiang Mai you do not need to file a new TM30 when you come back to Thailand, with an ongoing visa extension, to the same address reported previously. But I know that in some other places they insist that your landlord files a new TM30 whenever you come back from abroad.

. You only do 90 day reports on a long term visa extension. If you leave thailand before its due on a constant basis you still need to do a tm30 when you re enter each time within 24 hrs, which is virtually what a 90 day report is anyway, notifying your residential adress.

2. Yes. If it doesn't work for some reason, do it in person before the 90+7 days or you'll get a 2000 b fine. Late online reports won't work. Only early or on time.

1) usually they will staple a piece of paper in your passport that says when your first 90 day report is due. If they didn't do that, then it should be 90 days from the day they put the 1 year extension in your passport.

Please note that it's not a report every 90 days, it's a report every 90 days that you are consecutively in Thailand. If you leave before your 90 day report then it starts over again at day 1 when you return.

2) You can try filing your first 90 day report online. Some people are successful. You can apply 14 days before the due date so try a little early and if it's rejected you can go do it in person. You have until 7 days after the due date to file in person without a fine.

The 90-Day report you can do 2 weeks before and 1 week after the 90th day. If lucky the online system will work also for you for the next 90-Day report.

Try your first 90 day report online, it works for some people. If it doesn't you have plenty of time to do it in person. Online from 14 days before up to the due date, in person up to days late.
