Do I need to be in Thailand to report my 90-day requirement on a retirement visa?

For a retirement visa: I am over 50, will transfer 800k to a thai bank account that I have already.. my question: To report every 90 days, .. do I need to be in Thailand? I want to be in Thailand most of the time with the retirement visa but for family reasons I might have to be outside of Thailand for some months in a year.

Thank you all

TLDR : Answer Summary
If you hold a retirement visa in Thailand and need to report your presence every 90 days, you only need to file this report while you are physically in Thailand. The 90-day counting period begins from the day you enter the country, and it resets each time you leave. Therefore, if you are outside of Thailand, you are not required to report until you return and have been in the country for another 90 days. Additionally, ensure you secure a re-entry permit before leaving Thailand if you plan to return.

You only report 90 days when you’re in Thailand 90 days when you leave and return your 90 days re sets one year I was out an in every month never did a 90 day

Simple answer...

You ONLY file a 90 day report when you have been IN THAILAND for 90 days.

The 90 days count from the first day you enter Thailand.

And the count ends when you leave Thailand. So there's NO need to Report anything when you are outside of Thailand.

BTW... Be sure you have a re-entry permit to re-enter Thailand when you leave. Buy it from your local Thai immigration office or at the major Thai airports BEFORE YOU LEAVE THAILAND.

Thank you James. .. So if I get my retirement visa and for personal reasons I need to be outside of Thailand for lets say 5 months, Do I still have my retirement visa after that time? or do I need to reapply again.

the retirement visa is only good for 3 months, before that visa ends you would apply for a yearly extension. Don't confuse the visa with the extension, leaving for 5 months before you get the extension the visa would expire and it's back to square one.

is exactly my position. As James says, make sure you get a re entry permit on leaving (I get mine at Suvarnabhumi as I leave, (1000 baht with preprepared form and photo, 1200 if they do).

You just need go be inside thailand at tour extension times.

Or 3'800THB for a Multiple Re-Entry Permit in case you intend to leave Thailand several times during the validity of your Visa or Extension to Stay.

multiple re-entry permit is 3,800 Thai baht

you still have the retirement Visa or its one year extension of stay as retired.

Just be sure to have bought a re-entry permit BEFORE YOU LEAVE Thailand to KEEP VALID the ending date of your stamped date in your passport.
