I have a Non-O visa and 1 year extension based on retirement (Did all of this inside Thailand). I like some advice on my FIRST 90 day check in. Does it need to be in person the first time or can i do online ( I am in Phitsanulok) . How close to the 90 day check in can i complete, within 30 days, 2 weeks? Also, when i get to the end of my 1 year extension, and i want to stay longer, do i need to redo the Non-O or can i extend the 1 year retirement. Thanks for the information...

TLDR : Answer Summary
For your first 90-day check-in on a Non-O visa, you are generally required to do it in person, although online reporting has been improving, and you might try that as well. You can report between 15 days before and the actual due date. After your first check-in, subsequent reports can be done online. Regarding your extension at the end of the 1-year period, you can apply for a new 1-year extension if you still meet the requirements, starting 45 days before your current extension expires.

In the same situation I was told by immigration that first 90 day report had to be in person. Subsequently it can be online. The first 90 day report doesn't have to be in the same province that issued the extension of stay

actually MOST immigration offices tell you that you MUST do your 90 day report where you got the extension (to stop people from province shopping for easy immigration offices).

So keep in mind your mileage may vary on that advice

You can try online reporting first. You can try a few times online even if rejected, and you still have time for reporting in person at the immigration office.

The system has kept being improved bit by bit. A while ago, the system gave you this kind of message, ""For further information, Please contact the Immigration Branch Office in your residence area"", always in the rejecting notification mail. (<- no way to find what's wrong, you needed to do try-n-error blindly).

But now, since a couple of months ago, the system is giving you a bit more specific reason for rejection, so you can try to fix that part and re-try. If still a no-go, you can go in person.

90days report windows are:

- At the local immigration office: 15 days before until 7 days later the due date

- Online: 15 days before until the due date

- By legacy mail (EMS from Thailand Post): post stamped at least 15 days before the due date

You can use the on-line report system after you made an account on this website.

You make the report between 15 days before and due date.

At the end of your current 1 year, during the last 45 days you can apply directly for a new 1 year Extension of Stay if you still meet all the requirements.
