My experience applying for Non-O multiple based on marriage at Savannakhet.

Flew Nok Air Don Mueang fly and drive to Mukdahan on Sunday and arrived at Border to depart Thailand with existing extension of stay based on ED cancelled few days before at Immigration. No issues and on my way. Stamped out about 3:50pm and waited for the bus across the bridge for about 35 mins so was expecting to pay the overtime fee at the Laos side at this point.

Arrived and not busy at all, knocked on the immigration window, handed forms, filled and attached photo and 35$ (would advise paying dollars to save 450฿) No overtime fee, actually after I got my pp back no officers or staff at all just walked past all booths. Tuk tuk 150 baht to hotel.

Monday morning was expecting chaos so go to embassy arrive at 7am first in queue nobody there. 7:30 few people arrived and by 8:30 about 30 in the queue including the visa run companies. By 10am lots of Filipinos but not overly busy.

Doors opened at 9am and although I had all documents required for some reason they wanted to see the original wife’s house book. As I already had copies of name and data page signed I was wondering why they wanted it? Turns out they wanted to see the name change edit on the back page from maiden to my surname.

Well we didint have it with us, the girl at the counter was actually quite good trying to ask the director if it was possible without this and at a minimum they wanted a to see a photo of it. After two hours we managed to get someone to send a photo of the back page from bkk and we showed this on the phone to the girl which luckily was sufficient.

I don’t know if it was me that missed something or this is something new they are asking for but the wife was approached by two agents that asked what additional things the consulate wanted and both were surprised. I did find out later that a certificate that shows an official family name change would also work but anyway after showing the photo paying 5k baht I went back the following day to pick up at 2pm all was in order. The number you get to collect the passport doesn’t matter because they do not call in numerical order just line up and if you are first in queue even with number 52 like I had you will be served first.

Picked up pp at 2:09pm in Mukdahan town by 3pm van to airport and back to BKK by 10:30pm

Thanx for the update.

May I ask where did you fly to and how far from the border it is ?
Tod *********
there are fly and ride programs from BOTH Nok Air and Air Asia from bangkok to the Mukdahan Market

Google is your friend, unfortunately how to from point a to point b is NOT a thai visa related question.

Edit 15 Jan 2020, out of a report:

If the wife did a name change:

Tabien Baan name change edit on the back page from maiden to your surname OR

The certificate that shows an official family name change
