Hello all, I’m looking to travel to Savannakhet to get myself a non-o based on being married to a Thai. It’s been a few years since I last did this trip so I’m looking to confirm what documents is required. Has anyone done this trip recently who can let me know what documents is required? Any other tips appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

TLDR : Answer Summary
To obtain a year-long, multi-entry Non-O visa based on marriage to a Thai citizen at the Thai consulate in Savannakhet, you need to prepare the following documents: the original rose-bordered marriage certificate, a hand-written request letter from your Thai spouse, copies of key documents including the marriage certificate, Kor Ror 2, Thai spouse's ID card, and house registration book, along with a filled out application form and 5000 baht. Two passport photos are also needed. Submit your application before 11 AM for pick-up the next working day after 2 PM.

PAY ATTENTION PEOPLE

This person is NOT wanting an year extension based on marriage at the immigration office, they are going to the thai consulate in Savannakhet Lao to get a year-long, multi-entry Non-O visa based on marriage to a thai.

That consulate (and the one in HCMC Vietnam) does NOT require proof of funds to issue that visa for 5000 baht.

Same as it ever was. ..

For a year-long, multi-entry Non-O visa based on marriage to a thai at the thai consulate in Savannakhet you need

-the original rose bordered marriage certificate

-hand written letter from your thai wife (thai i/d #, dob, name) stating you got married on xxx date and she requests them to issue you (passport, dob, name) a Non-O

copies of:

-front&back of the rose bordered marriage certificate

-front&back of the Kor Ror 2

-front&back of your thai spouse's i/d card

-thai spouse's house book listing

-data page of your passport

-lao visa & entry stamp

you also need 2 passport sized photos,a filled out application along with 5000baht.

Your thai spouse signs the things with their name on them, you sign the things with yours <- meaning you BOTH sign the marriage certificate copies πŸ˜‰

NOTE: if your thai wife changed her name (took your surname when she got married OR after that) you need the certificate stating she changed her name too..

Turn in your application before 11 one day pick up your passport the next working day after 2,

WRITE ON THE APPLICATION in the top right "ONE YEAR-MULTIPLE ENTRY" where you mark the box for the Non-Imm visa and COUNT the 5000 baht into their hand

@Lee *********
that you did NOT go to Savannakhet Lao and get a year long multi-entry Non-O visa based on marriage last year because the country was closed to foreigners entering. πŸ˜•

They are going to the thai consulate in Savannakhet Lao to BUY a visa, they are not getting an extension or visa inside the country πŸ˜•
