Hello,

Just wanted to say that thanks to the help of the admins on this page, I have just returned from Savannakhet with the single-entry Non-O based on marriage.

The documents I submitted were as follows:

- Savannakhet specific applciation form (left section about "guarantor in Laos" blank, gave wife's details as "guarantor in Thailand")

- Two passport photos

- 2000 THB application fee

- Copy of rose-bordered marriage certificate, both sides, signed by wife and me

- Copy of Kor ror 2, both sides, signed by wife and me

- Copy of wife's Thai ID signed by her

- Copy of wife's housebook signed by her

- Copy of my passport biodata page signed by me

- Copy of Laos visa and entry stamp, signed by me

I did give them the original marriage certificate and kor ror 2, but these were given straight back to me. I also had my wife with me, but there was no indication this was necessary. No interview, in fact no interaction at all with the officer. Just handed over the documents and was given a ticket to collect my passport the next day.

Some things first timers organizing their own travel might like to know:

- You can take the bus from Mukdahan to Savannakhet, it runs frequently. Be warned that hotels might tell you that you need to hire a taxi.

- The bus is only 45 thb but don't expect change if you give them more than that at the ticket office

- Do the Laos e-visa instead of visa on arrival. I was the only one in the VOA queue so it only took 5 minutes but the bus still left without me.

- Laos immigration officers might ask you for 100 THB because...well, you can probably guess. No receipt of course.

- Then you might also have to pay 20 THB to go through the electronic gates on the Laos side. This and the last point apply whether you are entering or leaving.

No bank statements showing 400,000 baht in Thai bank?

@Jacob *******
nope... he was Only applying for the Non O Visa as Married to Thai... single entry.

the 400K baht in the bank is ONLY required when you are applying for a year-long, multi-entry Non-O visa based on marriage to a thai.

For the 90 day single entry one there is no proof of funds at Savannakhet

Is it possible to get a single entry non-O based on marriage in Savannahkhet, extend 60 days in Thailand for 1900 baht, and then repeat the process? Last year I got a multiple entry non-O but won't be able to do that anymore. Thank you 🙏

@Jerry ***********
it IS possible but as far as how many times you can do it no one knows..

@Tod ********
thank you. Based on what another mod said, I guess it isn't possible so will have to try to get an extension based on 40K baht a month. Regarding that, do you know if the 40K baht monthly can come from more than one source? I am a government school teacher with a salary less than 40K baht, but I also earn money from teaching Myanmar students online. My salary from teaching goes to GSB and the online teaching I do goes to Krungsri. Can it be combined as long as I have both bank statements? Thank you 🙏

May I ask, why you don’t apply for the multiple entry non-o?

@Randy *******
It was my plan originally, but at the beginning of this month they started asking for the 400k, which I could not have at short notice. I believe I read on this page that they do not accept the proof of 40k+ monthly income. Now my plan is to extend this visa as Tod suggests.

thanks for your reply. I’m on a multiple entry

non-o right now. I got it in march, when they weren’t asking for the 400k proof. I’ll make sure I have all required documents when I head back there early next year for my multiple entry non-o.

@Randy *******
to get a year long multi-entry Non-O visa at Savannakhet you now show proof of 400K baht in a bank account,

AND

On that year long visa you only get stamped in each time for 90 days, so you have to bounce out and back every 3 months for the validity of the visa

Many people prefer to get the 90 day single entry Non-O and then apply for the year extension inside the country at their immigration office for 1900baht by meeting the financial requirements and turning in the correct documentation

thanks for the info Tod. I was just curious.

thank you for the update, and glad you got the 90 day single entry Non-O visa 🙂
