I visited The Royal Thailand Embassy of Malaysia today.

requirements for an STV.

1. Original passport with at least 12-months validity and 2 blank visa pages✅

2. For Non-Malaysians, proof of permanent resident status in Malaysia (PR card) ❌❌❌❌

Sorry I explained I’m an oil and gas offshore worker and I have a place in Thailand I have already paid for however it’s only a rental for 1 year. Contact signed May 2020. She said sorry sir 🙅🏽‍♀️

So I told the office just fly me to Singapore until they work out something 😬

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user shared their experience attempting to apply for a Special Tourist Visa (STV) at the Royal Thailand Embassy in Malaysia, outlining the necessary requirements, such as a passport with 12 months validity and two blank visa pages. They faced complications due to their non-Malaysian status, as the embassy required proof of permanent residency for applicants who are not Malaysian. The conversation reveals a broader uncertainty regarding the STV's availability and the complications surrounding travel during the COVID-19 pandemic, with multiple comments expressing skepticism about the visa's status and ongoing delays.

STV has been postponed indefinitely, which is lingo for cancelled.
Sara ******
@David *****
it's not. Our country stv is for apply
J ******************
They have delayed the implementation indefinitely no refunds
Kathy ****************
That whole program has been canceled, be careful and do not pay anyone any money...

Kathy I am not disputing any of the above as I have visited Thailand over 50 times over a 13 year period and lived there for a good while aswell. What I am disputing is the fact that you said that the whole ‘STV’ program has been cancelled and it simply hasn’t
Jim ********
@Kathy ***************
cancelled when? By who? And who does it apply to?
Kathy ****************
The Thai government, the Bangkok post..

ok so it hasn’t been cancelled, people just disagree with it!

We have been following this extremely closely because our children live in Bangkok we have been trying since May and we have been trying every option possible to get there and our daughter had told us because of typical Thai situations not to try that Visa because it is been ran through a third party and they take your money and the state had not approved it yet
Kathy ****************
Go to Richard barrows page.
Kathy ****************
@Jim *******
it has been canceled..
Jim ********
@Kathy ***************
it has been delayed until after the 25th October when the vegetarian festival has finished. Look on all of the news channels it’s there in black and white
Kathy ****************
@Jim *******
good luck with that, after a multitude of trips to Thailand we have learned that you never do anything through a third party more than not they take your money and you get nothing if you can come into the country legally you do it through a Visa with the Thai Embassy only. We love Thailand and our children have been there 10 years but one of the biggest things that we have learned is there is more corruption sometimes than there is good...
Brian *****
The first entry on the long stay visa which was Chinese people due on 8 October was delayed anyway. Now first possible group won’t be coming in until after 25 October and that is not definite either.

What ever.

It does not start until after 25 October 2020

This is the reason why 25 October.

Tesagan Gin Je

The 2020 “Tesagan Gin Je” (pronounced “Jay”) festival is happening this year from October 16-25. Sometimes known as the Vegetarian festival it is technically more of a vegan festival

STV visa application aside.. it seems that they aren’t accepting visa applications from non-Malaysians anyway. I wonder if this applies to all visas now and signifies the end of getting a visa any where else besides your country of origin. There was some talk of this.
Tom *******
Off the point a bit, but All cases now are repatriated thais why are they exempt from 72hr testing, is it because they can't be arsed hassling thais
Michael ********
@Tom ******

thanks for sharing, I had a look a couple of days ago and couldn’t find it. Sounds very complicated though (esp. as I’m permanently resident in the UK but currently in Finland). Are you planning to try this?
Mikko **********
@Tanja *****
Probably not, sounds like too much of a hassle. I'll just wait and see how this whole situation is developing.

looks like every embassy is doing their own thing

If you intend to stay in LoS for longer than six months, two (2) blank visa pages might not be enough for every single COVID-period stamp that takes up at least half a page.
Bim *******
I believe it's on hold two days before the launch. Don't hold your breath.

STV is for no one, it is all smoke n mirrors

for 1200 wealthy souls only every month.
Kathy ****************
The WDC Royal THai Embassy is not issuing any STV'S they say they do not have any info on them.
Vincent ********
@Adnan ******
you have to take contact with the Thai embassy of your country to see if the citizens of your country are allowed or not. If yes you have to ask a CEO certificate, reserve a charter flight and an ASQ hôtel to make 14 days strict quarantine, staying in your room without any contact (costs minimum
*****
bahts in bad hotel, can go to
*****
0 bahts) after you have to stay 21 days in the same province where you have made your quarantine( for the moment very few provinces, 95% of ASQ hotels are in Bangkok) and normally after you can move in other provinces but you will be tracing with phone or electronic bracelet
Adnan *******
@Vincent *******
So basically its spening a good

0 baht along with getting yourself 🔒 for 14 days to have a job that pays roughly
*****
baht a month😄
Vincent ********
yes this kind of visa will be only for rich people
Jim ********
@Vincent *******
when did the rule get announced regarding staying 21 days in one province? Im sure once you have done your quarantine you are free to move around Thailand as you pleasw
Vincent ********
@Jim *******
no they will change that and oblige people to have electronic bracelets. New opinion poll says that more than 70% of thaï people don’t want foreigners on the countries then want to harden the rules; nothing more is still official since nothing has been published in the Royal Gazette
Owen ********
@Jim *******
this was in the original Phuket model, not in the current STV.
Jim ********
@Owen *******
yeh didn’t think so
Greg ********
@Adnan ******
No, if you come from an area with high infection rates you are excluded. UK for example.
