I emailed the consulate in Los Angeles for more info about the STV and they just sent me this link. Is this a tourist visa? If so, does that mean I’m limited to 30 days minus the mandatory 2 wks quarantine, which will leave me w/ only 2 wks in country?! I’ve read you can extend it, but what are the conditions? I don’t plan to go until 2nd wk of April. Thanks yall 💛

TLDR : Answer Summary
The poster inquired about the Special Tourist Visa (STV) and its classification as a tourist visa, specifically concerned about the 30-day limit minus a mandatory 2-week quarantine, which would leave them only 2 weeks in Thailand. The conversation reveals that a visa-exempt entry allows for a 45-day stay, while a tourist visa offers an initial 60 days with a possible 30-day extension. It’s noted that regulations may change, and there are mixed opinions on the current status of the STV.

Very possible the did away with the STV a TV would give you 60 plus a 30 day extension

You can also apply for a tourist visa which is 60 days initially that can extend another 30 days. Visa exempt gives you 45 plus a 30 day extension. Both these options can be changed to a different visa in Thailand if you wish to stay longer.

Hi Ryan, when you say 60 days, is it 60 days including the 15-day quarantine period, so that you only have 45 days left? Or is it excluded, so that you have 15 + 60 = 75 days?

a tourist visa is 60+30 (including the quarantine). Visa exempt is 45+30

Thank you very much.

No idea where that info graphic came from. A visa exempt entry will give you 45 days. Land entry- in the days before borders were closed would have given you 30 days but that was way before the exempt entry was extended to 45 days to allow for mandatory quarantine.

Use the Thai Embassy website. The STV Special Tourist Visa 90 initial, then 2 90 Extensions available at Thai Immigration. As said - you cannot convert the STV in Thailand. There are several restrictions... But for many under age 50 - it is one of the few long stay Visas counting the Extensions which are only 1900 baht each.

it’s from the consulate’s website in Los Angeles. The STV would be a better option since I’d like to stay for longer than 45 days, but I can’t find STV specific info in their site.

I’ve checked their website too and the STV doesn’t seem to be available. It’s a shite option anyway. Yes you can stay longer than 45 days but you have to have fully paid up accommodation for your entire stay. What “tourist” would do that?
