What are the options for extending a stay in Thailand for a Canadian on a Non-O marriage visa?

I’m a Canadian planning on returning to Thailand sometime in November and stay for 5-6 months. I can get O marriage... but only valid for 90+60 days. Will I be able to get any other extensions?

I was considering the STV 90+90+90... but unless I’m reading something wrong... you have to use a “special” agency and the fees add up to 12000 baht. It seems a bit ridiculous.

No I don’t want to apply for a 1 year marriage visa and lock 🔒 up 400 000 thai baht into a bank account.

Perhaps a future option if it would still be valid if I returned to Canada to work for 6 months.

Any positive feedback and wisdom is appreciated.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A Canadian planning to stay in Thailand for 5-6 months is exploring options for extending their stay following the expiration of a Non-O marriage visa. The user notes that while they can obtain an O marriage visa valid for 90+60 days, they are seeking additional extension options without using a special agency for the STV visa due to high fees. Comments suggest alternatives, including applying for a Non-O visa before arrival and obtaining a 60-day 'visit Thai family' extension after entering Thailand. However, there are limitations on the duration of stay extensions available from a Non-O visa.

baht. It seems a bit ridiculous.

VERY few agents would even touch the STV. All extension of stays are the same amount of money; 1,900 THB (or 5,700 THB total for three extensions).

You should be able to, in theory. I don't know what the STV is on.

get a 90 day Non-O visa based on marriage to a thai before you come here from the thai consulate in your country. Come in, get stamped in for 90 days, then apply for a 60 day "visit thai family" extension at your immigration office for 1900baht. <- that buys you the 5 months you wanna be here.

There is no way to get 6 out of a non-O without getting a year extension

If I was to get the extension and then apply for a 1 year visa after having 400k in a Thai account for 2 months. I would have a valid 1 year visa from April 2, 2022 till April 1, 2023? If I left Thailand,May 1 2022... would it still be valid if I returned November,2022 or do I have to do a new visa process? Sorry 😐 it’s a big question. I appreciate your time.

No need for an agency, just have to follow the rules regarding accomadation and insurance, when you go for the extension.
