My husband and I would like to apply for the DTV visa. I know this is still all new but wondered if anyone had experience yet. I will be applying through LA. I’ve seen the requirements for the DTV application and emailed the consulate but haven’t received a reply. I have 2 questions maybe someone has dealt with something similar.

1: My husband owns a business that is seasonal and we’ve gone to Thailand in the off season, the last several years. We’ve always jumped between Thailand and neighboring countries on tourist visas. This DTV seems the better option for us to stay our whole time in Thailand. The business is not an online business but he could still do some communication and scheduling while we are away, remotely. He does have a business registration with our state and tax forms, funds in the bank and he could write a letter stating the intent to return for work when the season work starts again in the spring. Anyone being accepted with something similar. Any suggestions?

2: I was also curious if anyone has applied as the dependent. Does my husband’s application need to be approved first before me applying as a dependent? or can they be done around the same time, 1 right after the other, without waiting for the first approval?

Thanks for any help.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user seeks advice on applying for a DTV visa for themselves and their husband, who owns a seasonal business. They have questions about the necessary proof of intent to return for work and whether the husband must be approved before the user can apply as a dependent. Responses note that the husband must secure his DTV visa first and mention potential proof of funds required for dependents.

If your husband owns the business, have the HR/office manager “certify” the job is remote; depending on the embassy/consulate you apply at, you might need to align bank statements to prove this.

Your husband would need his DTV first before you can apply for yours. Also note that many embassies have been requiring proof of 500,000 for each dependant as well.
