Routine covid extension, but learned some new stuff that could help others..
Got a 60 day unable to travel extension off of a visa exempt entry 30 day with a 30 day extension already applied. It was stamped for the full 60 days with no under consideration. MTT. Had to talk to the tm 30 people since my hotel gave me something besides the yellow screen print out. Thankfully hotel had it filed correctly online and immigration was kind enough to print the yellow one out. Had changed location from Phuket to Bkk. Better to print the yellow screen tm 30 thing for MTT
Various people around me were not so lucky. They were being told to go get an embassy letter. They said that they only approve the first 60 day without a letter and a 2nd requires an embassy letter.
That group was also very loud and immigration told them to quiet down. So it may not have helped their case. As always, best to be quiet, polite and respectful.
To my surprise the 60 days was from the date of the last extensions ended, not from the date of application.
TLDR : Answer Summary
The post discusses the recent experience of obtaining a 60-day COVID extension for a visa-exempt entry in Thailand, noting that the extension was granted without the need for an embassy letter, which some others were required to present. The author highlights the importance of having proper documentation, like the yellow TM30 registration printout from their hotel, and emphasizes the need for respectful communication during the immigration process. It is also mentioned that the extension date counted from the end of the previous extension rather than the application date.
