TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion outlines the visa extension procedures for expats in Thailand, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic. Participants share experiences about receiving stamps for extensions until November 30th, with specific mention of requirements in Phuket and Pattaya. Concerns were raised regarding confusion about visa statuses and deadlines, particularly the impact of expired visas. There is a consensus that procedures are often complicated, and communication from immigration offices can be poor. Questions about the validity of an extension application and the necessary documentation, such as letters from embassies, are also highlighted.

in bangkok, the 90 day extension location has moved to a new place quite far from the usual Wattana office, it is really inconvenient

Watch how many people leave immigration with wrong dates anyway. Communication isn't really a focus here.

You simply can't blame this on individuals. Many embassies were not giving letters until late. People who went to immigration early were turned away and told to come back closer to the deadline. Then when they started, they gave people under consideration stamps telling them to come back in some cases as late as the 25th. Many offices had long lists of arbitrary nonsensical requirements.

It's not like there was some easy procedure that people just had to show up and register themselves to get an extension, they made it far more complicated than it had to be.

As if Prayuth did not make his most recent announcement at the last second.

Farang can play this game just as well.

In Phuket you need to show that you’ve checked the visa application status online and that it’s already been “approved”. If so you’ll get stamped to Nov 30th. There is no further paperwork or payment needed. Just your passport and the receipt you got with the application.
