I made a search in the group, but I still don't have the answers... Many says DIY or " go to the immigration to ask " without any concrete details, hints, instructions, tips, advices.

What is the exact process and the detailed requirements to make a NON-O retirement visa arriving to the Kingdom without any visas ? To do it myself.

In the past I used the NON-OA making it back home, but it became too complicated online.

I have the bank account and the 800.000 baht is available. I own the condo I live in. Usually I stay in Thailand 8-9 months and insured by travel insurance. ( NOT local health insurance )

Thanks in advance for any concrete infos. 👍

TLDR : Answer Summary
The process for obtaining a NON-O retirement visa upon arrival in Thailand involves several steps. First, you need to ensure you have a valid entry stamp allowing at least 15 days of stay. Upon arrival, you must open a Thai bank account and maintain a balance of 800,000 Baht for at least two months before applying at the local immigration office. Requirements for the application include specific forms (TM87 for visa exempt, TM86 for tourist visa), proof of age over 50, bank statements, proof of residence, recent passport photos, and payment of applicable fees. Since immigration rules may vary by province, it is advisable to check with your local immigration office for any specific requirements. Some users recommend getting assistance from a local visa agency for clarity and guidance.

You need at least 20 days left on your visa or stamp to start the non-o ,in jomtien they want the 800k in the bank for 2 months before applying other offices only require 2 months after you apply

Get a local visa agency to guide you through the process

I understand you have the relevant documentation but it’s clear you are getting more confused as time goes along

The process wil be simpler for an agency to obtain the visa for you.

I recommend Tik who runs Tik Tik visa in Jomtien

Google got her details and she will get it done quickly without fuss 👍

Go to your Thai bank and get two letters from them. One letter states it is your account in your name. The other letter shows your deposit of the bt800,000, and the balance for at least the last two months. If they want to be a**holes they will require that the money into your account came direct deposit into your account from an overseas source. With these two bank letters no older than 7 days, a copy of your bank book updated on the day you apply, copies of your passport, a recent passport photo, and the application. Anything more than this is determined by the immigration office you use.

Just need to change to non o first

For that your entry stamp has to be valuable 15 days or more ( period you can stay ) If not 15 days ask extension of 30 days first

No need to leave the country

If it is for Phuket, I can send you the details on monday if you're interested

Kind regards

Terry Rayo STEP-BY-STEP DO-IT-YOURSELF INSTRUCTIONS -- APPLYING FOR RETIREMENT STAY AFTER ARRIVAL IN THAILAND (Must be over age 50): i. You may arrive either Visa Exempt (currently 45-days), or on a 60-day Tourist Visa. ii. Then, immediately after your arrival, you must promptly open a Thai Bank Account, and transfer 800,000 Baht into Thai Bank Account (if married, some Immig. Offices like CM, accept Joint Account with 1.6 Mil. Baht. Also Note, that either Passbook Savings or Fixed Deposit is acceptable, but not Investment Account. Finally note, that some Immig. Offices, but not all - e.g. CM, require proof of foreign source of funds. WISE is an inexpensive, easy & reliable service to transfer funds). iii. Then, you apply for a 90-day Non-O Visa at local Thai Immigration Office. If on Visa Exempt, you use Form TM87, if on Tourist Visa TM86. You are required to apply with minimum 15-21 days remaining on permitted Stay, depending on Office (Chiang Mai, requires 21 days). Requirements: TM87 or TM86 (Note: Fear not, only 1-page Form simple to fill out in English with only basic info., name, address, passport info., arrival info, and stated purpose: "For Retirement"), Must be Over Age 50, 2000 Baht, Copy of all relevant pages of Passport (i.e. Facepage, and Entry Stamp); copy of TM30 (that is the required arrival form that is either completed by your Hotel or Condo, or you do yourself at Immig. Office w/i 24 hrs of arrival); copy of proof of residency (Rental Agreement, or Hotel Reservation -- some offices may not allow if only staying at a HOtel); and most importantly proof of the money in Bank (Copy of Bank Book, and a certified Letter from the Bank usually costing 100 Baht). Above is all simple and straightforward, so no need for spending money on a Visa Service. iv. If all docs. in order, Immig. Office will put a Sticker in your Passport that you are "under consideration", and a date to return to pick up your Visa Stamp (prior to your Stay expiration). v. Next, when you have 30 days remaining on the Non-O (and your Bank Money has "seeded" 60 days -- i.e. stayed on deposit), you go back to Immig. Office to apply for the 1-yr Retirement Extension. Requirements.: TM7 (Req. for Extension of Stay); 1900 Baht, and all other same docs. as above (newly updated of course). And, you will receive 1-yr Extension of Stay -- usually same day, if you arrive in morning. Note: For both processes above, your Bank Passbook Balance must be updated same date as application, and the Bank Letter should be no more than 7 days old -- easiest just to do both same day just before going to Immig. Office). vi. Finally, you should/must get a Re-Entry Stamp -- easiest/best to just do immediately after you get your 1-yr. Extension stamp. It can be single Re-Entry for 1000 Baht, or 3800 Baht for unlimited multiple Re-Entry. The Re-Entry Stamp allows you to leave and return to Thailand, without invalidating your 1-yr Extension. If you fail to do that, then your Extension of Stay is nullified, and you must start the process again. (IMPORTANT: If you want or need to leave Thailand while on the initial 90-Day Non-O, same thing -- must get Re-Entry Stamp.). Hope that is all clear.

The whole event is a crock of...Vietnam is bringing back their 3-month tourist visa which I believe you can continually renew and which I will be doing. Beats jumping through a million hoops that Thailand forces you through. I'm well over it.

This may help, this is the requirement to renew at Surat Thani province, obviously slightly different to the initial process ✌️✌️✌️

BTW your travel insurance is probably invalid, look at the policy doc, usually you have to be in home country for 6 months before

" The maximum insurance period for work and travel insurance is 24 months and 12 months for travelers staying in Germany. "

@Gábor *********
yes but what does it say about how long you need to be in Germany? if it was that easy every expat would buy travel insurance
Gio *****
@Peter ******
really depends on the company, some are ok with 6 and others you can stay abroad 9 months

Mine is 6 months, I can stay abroad 6 months without going back home

@Gio ****

The problem is every province has an immigration office and every immigration office makes their own rules. So the advice you read is correct. You need to go to the immigration office you will be using after you arrive and ask for what that specific office wants in order to convert from a tourist to a non-O visa based on whatever reason you are using.

But they will all require a certain amount of money in a Thai bank account or proof of income so prepare yourself for that.

thank you, I'm located in Pattaya / Jomtien beach. Do you mean, they may ask proof for extra income over the 800.000 baht in Thai bank ?
Brandon ************
@Gábor *********
I have some bad news for you. Jomtien is the most outlandish office in all of Thailand as far as making their own rules and extra requirements. They're the ONLY office in Thailand that requires you have your 800,000 in the bank for 2 full months before allowing you to convert to a non-O visa. Every other office just requires you to show that you have the money.

I think Nakhon Si Thammarat immigration fall into the same category. No 90 day under consideration in-country (yes, you have to leave Thailand), no trailing spouse who is 50 or above and last time I did a Non O extension, they required 400k insurance. They also require the 2 months of money in bank for Non O. Not relevant for this chap but maybe for advising others.

@Brandon ***********
that's no problem, the money parking in the bank for years already.

@Gábor *********
you do need to show that the money is transferred from overseas. Just having it in an account is not enough

first time I hear this.

it only applies to the initial 90 day Non-O visa inside Thailand. For extensions the money can come from anywhere
