1. Assume i have 800K in bank for 3 months.

2. Forms for 3 months ?

3. Evidence of money in bank ? Letter from Bank ? self photocopy of bank book ?

TLDR : Answer Summary
To apply for a retirement visa (Non-O) in Thailand, follow these steps: 1. Ensure you have 800,000 THB in your bank account for at least three months. 2. Gather required documents which include bank statements showing the minimum balance, possibly a letter from the bank verifying your funds, and personal copies of your bank book. 3. You may apply for a Non-O visa at a Thai consulate or immigration office, and ensure you have at least 20 days left on your current visa. 4. Use form TM.86 to change your current visa to a Non-O visa. 5. After obtaining the 90-day Non-O visa, wait until 30 days or less remain on your stamp to apply for the one-year extension (Non-O A) if you meet the ongoing financial requirements. Note the financial verification timeline for the bank statement and letter when applying.

If you can get this Non Imm O 90 day visa for 'retirement' inside Canada at a Thai Consulate without income qualification - then I say Do It.
Joe ***********
You can also get this 90 Non Imm O visa at the main Thai Immigration Office in Bangkok (one of the very few exceptions of getting any kind of visa inside Thailand) and income qualification is required

Visas are supposed to be only from Thai Consulates / Embassies outside Thailand. Extensions to those Visas are done at Thai Immigration offices. The only exception that I know of is the Non Imm O 90 day visa sold at the Main BKK Immigration office

I do not know for sure but I do not think so.

oh. can you also get the Non-O 90 from Jomthein ?

In the Thailand region (Consualtes in neighboring countries) to get the Non Imm O 90 Day Visa intended to be later used for a one year 'retirement' Extension (over age 50) one has to show income qualification

That is a Non Immigrant

O-A (not A)

I just browsed the Thai Consulate website (canada). For Non-Imm O visa (retirement-90days), there isn't a mention of having $$ requirement. However, for the Non-A (one year extension following the Non-O), there is. 1. is there $$ requirement when applying for Non-O from within Thailand ? 2. Is the retirement (non-O) only for 90 days and then the non-A for the 1 yr extension (based on 50 yr age and up).

Krabi does Non O Extensions up to 45 days before Expiry. And as few as 2 or 3 without complaint - if it is the 2nd or 3rd.

reports from there are that you need at least 20 days left on your current stamp to apply for the 90 day Non-O visa (the visa you need BEFORE you can get a year extension of stay based on retirement)>

You need to update the bank book the day you apply for the 90 Non-O visa and the bank letter can only be a couple days old. You use form TM.86 change of visa to go from a tourist visa to the Non-O visa.

It will go under consideration for a couple weeks (or more) before you go back and get the Non-O visa and the new 90 day stamp inked into your passport. THEN you wait until you have 30 days or less left on that stamp and go back (again with the bank letter and an updated bank book balance) to apply for the yearly extension.

NOTE: for the first yearly extension your money only needs to be seasoned in the account for 60 days.

Just went today to ask and it's actually 21 days.

Thanks Tod! I would be doing it in Chiang Mai so that works in my favor. I'll check with them this week. Cheers

@Oli***
, it usually is 15 days or more left on your current stamp when you apply for a Non-O visa inside the country BUT some offices want more time. I'd check with the office you're applying at to see what their time frame is.

Yes, it doesn't matter how you're meeting the financial requirements, you would still wait until you have 30 days or less left on the new 90 day stamp because that's earliest most offices will let you apply for an extension. (Bangkok and CHiang Mai are 45 days or less)

Two questions:

1) If you want to convert a visa exempt entry to non-imm O do you also need 20 days left on your entry? i had read that it was generally 15 days but perhaps they've changed it.

2) And if you use the monthly income option instead of the Thai bank balance do you have to go back when you have 30 days left on the non imm O or can you get the yearly extension right away? Because the money wouldn't require seasoning in that case

@Gunmetal ******
I mean when you FIRST apply for the 90 day Non-O you need 20 days left on the current stamp you're here on.

AND

After you get the 90 day Non-O visa you wait 2 months until you have 30 days or less left on that stamp BEFORE you can apply for the year extension.

If once you get the 90 day Non-O visa in your passport you need to leave the country and come back within those 90 days you would need to buy a re-entry permit.

ONCE you get the year extension you can buy a multiple re-entry permit which will let you go and come back and get stamped in for the balance of the year.

Thanks. 1. TM86 for Non-O. is it to assume that this is a single entry visa (basically, cannot leaving the country even for a day will end the Non-O visa). 2. Did you mean '..30 days or less on the stamp".. but at least 20 days before end of stamp as well (applicaiton window between 30 - 20 days before end of stamp). And option to request for multiple entry retirement (year extenstion) can be made at this time ?
