What are the requirements and steps for applying for a Retirement Visa in Thailand?

three hours later... mission accomplished! At a third check-in after applying on feb 13th - here it is Retirement Visa... this time it needed a lease agreement, copy of s previous application, photo, TM-6 form (again) and 1900B. Still find it reasonably manageable to do it yourself and saving 10-16k for other services doing it for you.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user successfully obtained a Retirement Visa after their initial application on February 13th. They shared that this process required a lease agreement, a copy of a previous application, a photo, a TM-6 form, and a fee of 1900 THB. The discussion also touched upon requirements for extending the Non-O visa, clarification about financial deposits in a Thai bank, re-entry permits, and the 90-day reporting system. It was noted that extensions can be applied for annually without needing to reapply for the Non-O visa itself, as the yearly extension allows for continuous residency.

For the applying the year extension off the O-A, do you require 400K or 800K in a thai bank (for 3 months). ?

... thanks, Tod! 👍🏼

@T**
as long as you've done one 90 day report in person and use the program from 15 days before down until 7 days BEFORE your actual 90 day due date you shouldn't have a problem with it working.

... Bangkok

@Chr****
why don't you say where you are in thailand?

Some immigration offices are not participating in the 90 day online program.

In order to use the 90 day online system, you must have done one 90 day report in person, You can only apply online from 15 days before down until 7 days BEFORE your actual 90 day report due date.

Can you do 90 day check-in without going to immigration.??

(y) that is the 90 day stamp you got when you got the Non-O issued inside the country
Tod *********
Remember Жанна IF you are going to travel outside of thailand this next year you also need a re-entry permit. :)

@Жанна ***********
that is correct. If you don't have the mutable entry up to date they cancel the retirement visa start all over again like I had to just last week

@Gunmetal ******
You are confusing two separate things which are both called "retirement visas"

A Non-Immigrant Type O-A visa is sold at thai consulates in the country your passport comes from. You get it before you come here, it requires a police background check and a medical certificate but you can meet the financial requirements by using money in the bank in your country. It is sold as a multi-entry and every time you enter the country you get stamped in for a new year until the visa expires

What Жанна had was a 90 day Non-O visa and now a yearly extension of stay from the immigration office INSIDE the country.

Once you have one yearly extension, every year you just apply for a new year extension you don't need to get another Non-O

@Gunmetal ******
Ted might best to reply. Visa is for one year.

@Tod ********
we are just arrived from Australia on a “retirement”visa and did not get this piece of paper in our passport. We are aware of the 90 day reporting though. Wonder why we didn’t get the notification!
Pedro **********
sorry i didn't mean 90 day check in... What i was asking was can you keep applying for extension each time they year is up, or do you have to get the non-imm O (90 day stay visa) again, and then apply for extension.
Жанна ************
ORIGINAL POSTER
@Tod ********
yes... I just wish we don’t
Tod *********
@Жа***
you DO need to make re-entry permit IF you're going to leave the country.
Жанна ************
ORIGINAL POSTER
Both... 90 day check in; one year reapply.
Pedro **********
so this is not an "O-A" Retirement visa? But rather non-O, with 1 yr extended stay. And can you keep extending year over year or do you have to do the Non-O 90 process again.
Жанна ************
ORIGINAL POSTER
wish we don’t need a reentry permit once we have visa... it’s a hassle and takes much space at passport pages
Tod *********
@Gunmetal ******
Once you get your yearly extension if you want to you BUY a re-entry permit. A single re-entry permit is 1000baht and lets you leave and come back once, a multiple re-entry permit is 3800 baht and lets you leave and come back as much as you want for that year.
Tod *********
@Gunm****
extensions expire on the date they say they're good to. If you have a re-entry permit (either a single or a multiple entry one) they are good until the extension expires.

In this case every time the O/P comes back they'd be stamped in until the 13th of May 2019.

Then you apply for a NEW yearly extension for 1900baht. You do that every year
Жанна ************
ORIGINAL POSTER
@Tod ********
that’s awesome... thanks for the tip
Жанна ************
ORIGINAL POSTER
@Gunmetal ******
reentry permit is not a visa... visa given for one year... reentry permit keeping visa valid.
Tod *********
@Жанна ***********
(y) once you do one 90 day report in person you will be able to use the online reporting system after that (:)
Pedro **********
1. so if you leave and renter say... on April 20, 2019, then you can only stay until May 13, 2019 ? or do you get another year added ? (2) And each time you exit, do you need to get reentry permit ? 1900 baht ..
Жанна ************
ORIGINAL POSTER
I have the little paper clipped with date stamped for next check in
Tod *********
@Жа***
a TM.47 is your 90 day report form, You should have that little paper of the image i posted showing when your first 90 day report is due.

Is it in your passport?
Жанна ************
ORIGINAL POSTER
@Gunmetal ******
don’t think so... it’s just a permit to get in/out without loosing the visa status
Жанна ************
ORIGINAL POSTER
Tod Daniels yes I have; it would also require a TM 47 form as they suggested
Tod *********
@Gunmetal ******
That date is the date his original Non-O visa expired and all they do is add a year to it. They don't just give a year from the date you apply.
Жанна ************
ORIGINAL POSTER
I believe because original submission was feb13-may 13 time frame
Tod *********
@Жа***
they should have put a paper in your passport like this that tells you when your first 90 day report is due.
Pedro **********
How come it says .. "13 May 2019" .. should it not be like "1 May 2019" for 1 year ?
Жанна ************
ORIGINAL POSTER
Tod thank you! Yes... and 90 days check in
Pedro **********
1. would you get a new 1 year upon rentery ?
Tod *********
Congratulations (y)
