I will be applying for a Non Immigrant "O" Visa (spouse), with multiple entries when I return to Australia in December. I was sure the 800,000/400,000 bank balance, or 65,000/40,000 monthly income applied to this Visa, however, the list of requirements from the Melbourne Consulate, see below, does not mention it and the application form only shows it as a requirement for the O-A Visa. I will have all the financial info with me, just in case, but would like to know if I am missing something.

Consulate requirements for O Visa.

1. A letter from your spouse written in Thai and signed off which needs to be stating:

· Your relationship

· Purpose of stay/ plan you would do in Thailand

· How long you are going to stay for each entry

· Your accommodation in Thailand

2. A copy of your Thai or Australian marriage certificate

3. A copy of your Thai spouse’s passport or Thai National ID card

4. A copy of any name change certificates of your spouse (if applicable)

5. Official bank statement showing a closing balance at least $8,000 under your name

6. A copy of your flight itinerary going into Thailand

7. Original Passport (valid for at least 6 months from the date of entry into Thailand)

8. 1 x passport sized photograph attached to completed application form

For non-Australian or non-resident applicant, proof of an Australian Visa (VEVO)

Fee is $300 which is payable by cash, bank cheque or money order

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is applying for a Non Immigrant "O" Visa (spouse) with multiple entries and questions if the 800,000/400,000 bank balance or 65,000/40,000 monthly income applies, as these are not mentioned in the consulate's requirements. Comments suggest that these financial requirements may pertain more to extensions within Thailand rather than initial applications, with an emphasis that such requirements for the Non-O visa are less stringent than for the Non-O-A visa.

As Thai consulates use one application form that fits all, you will see things on that form that will not apply for your visa application.

For Marriage you Do Not Apply for the Non Imm O-A Visa. The O-A Visa has absolutely nothing to do with getting a Marriage Visa or Extension of Stay

The multi entry o based on marriage has a far less financial requirement

You do realize that you have to leave Thailand every 90 days with this visa

The Melbourne Consulate staff are good. They were very helpful last time I went to enquire about visa requirements.

they have been great with my email queries as well. I was planning on driving to Canberra to submit, but someone else told me good things about the Melbourne Consulate.

The experts will correct me if I'm wrong, but I think these sums of money apply within Thailand when you ask for an extension of stay, rather than the initial application in your homeland.

Steve Mathers but why do they ask for it on the application form if applying for the O-A in Australia?
