Anyone have experience with Kasikorn Bank. I just arrived yesterday and my Thai wife and her niece both have accounts there.

TLDR : Answer Summary
Kasikorn Bank is generally viewed positively among expats in Thailand, with many praising its services and ease of use. Users report successful experiences with money transfers, including using Wise for transactions. The bank is deemed suitable for managing funds related to immigration and retirement visas, with minimal issues reported in account setup and maintenance. While there are challenges in direct communication, many prefer using email for inquiries. Overall, Kasikorn is often recommended over other banks like Bangkok Bank.

Been with them for 13 years, good banking app, everything works as it should, talking to someone can be a challenge, I find email is best for generic questions. Better than Bangkok bank.

Great bank had a few issues a few months ago with changes to the system but got it sorted by far the best bank in Thailand as I’ve had a few over the last 19 years

Opened an account with them in Khon Kaen a few weeks ago for yearly retirement visa. Quite straight forward. The only thing I was not expecting was they wanted my U.K. tax reference number.

Immigration asks for statement and a certificate. It took 1 week at Bangkok to receive the statement at 200 baht. When I picked up the statement, I asked for the certificate as well and that’s 100 baht. A complete nightmare dealing with Bangkok bank. Also, staffing and rules slightly differ from branch to branch. Some branches are definitely more efficient than others.

I opened another account with KrungThai, and so far, it’s been good. But we’ll see. 😬

I think it's the best bank for foreigners, especially now that Bangkok Bank should be avoided at all costs.

I agree 100%. My girlfriend has since 2 years a Retirement Visa and Bangkok bank still blocked her account. A lot of paperwork and running around to unblock the account. So Kasikorn is a better option.

I had an extremely smooth experience at SCB recently, but I have a work permit, which might have had something to do with it.

Just be careful. I know some people who got their SCB accounts with a work permit, and then when SCB found out they stopped working, they closed the account.
