Would like to extend my thanks to the group . I am mainly a reader of postings and really not a poster but after reading so much on the banking issue I thought I'll post about my experience today in opening a account with KBank in prachuap khiri khan.

I mainly went there for info on what they required in way of documents to open account. Had a lady greet me when I entered the bank told her I was looking at opening a account. From there she took charge luckily I had the required documents on me.

Passport

Visa non o type

Residential lease

Within a half hour walk out with new account, card and passbook supplied and with online banking setup in there app .

I had my thai girlfriend with me that help in translation which proved to be very helpful

Overall couldn't of asked for better service and would highly recommend to anyone looking for a bank account

Cheers

TLDR : Answer Summary
A member shared their positive experience opening an account at KBank in Prachuap Khiri Khan, highlighting the required documents: a passport, a NON-O visa, and a residential lease. The process was smooth, taking only about half an hour with good customer service, and they had help from their Thai girlfriend for translation. Community comments included suggestions for bringing a Thai speaker for assistance and discussions about different types of NON-O visas and KBank's reliability.

Was your non O the 90 day or the non O extended? I'm retiring and moving over in Oct. Getting ready to apply for either the non O as debated on here before, many of my friends are saying to apply for the non OA. I'm not bothered either way but the non O is easier and I can choose a good insurance rather than the crappy one. And congratulations on the bank opening.

The Thai g/f is undoubtedly a bonus when you go to a bank here.

@Mark *******
Bonus, perhaps, but when it comes to Thai girls and money, if she's doing all the talking in Thai, I'd be changing my pin right after and double checking all the papers!

I speak Thai and English. She speaks Thai and English. Just having her presence there makes life a little easier.

@Mark *******
Oh okay, that sounds like a good recipe! I really need to start studying Thai...
Stephen *********
Good for you. May I ask if KBank is Kasikorn Bank?
David *********
Yes
Bent *************
If you don’t bring a Thai who also speaks English it’s difficult!

@Bent ************
Absolutely false at many Kasikorn branches. It took me less than one hour, including waiting in line time at Kasikorn in Central Festival. I was alone.

I did the same last week. Kbank @ bluport Hua Hin were very good. πŸ™

I've had a k bank account for 15 years trouble free love the app easy to use. But I have also had a Bangkok bank account for 22 years and unlike others having issues I have been trouble free there as well. I'm here on a non-immigrant o retirement extension

was told at Bangkok bank they are only looking at accounts opened in the last 2 years for this latest round of locked accounts.

@Jay ******
Correct

probably explains it but I do know somebody that lives in my condo complex that opened his account in 2003 and they did indeed freeze his account so who really knows?
