I will soon need to transfer 800k to a thai bank account.
Any advise for which Thai bank is best? Method of transfer? Wise I have been told is good
Answer summary
The discussion revolves around the best Thai banks for transferring money, particularly for visa purposes. Many users recommend Kasikorn Bank and Krungsri Bank, while consistently advising against Bangkok Bank due to complaints about their service. Wise is praised as a reliable method for money transfers, especially when transferring large sums. Users suggest ensuring that the branch chosen is convenient to the user's residence and emphasize the importance of marking transfers as 'Foreign Bank Transfers' for visa compliance.

I use wise every month to transfer small amounts of like 500.00 a month there in seconds good rate transparent. But for a large transfer we’re going to do soon I will transfer the 4 million baht swift my Schwab too kasikorn. And I’m sure same for 800,000 baht we will transfer swift
You need to obtain a Residency Certificate from Immigration prior to opening an account. Then use wise and when you transfer to your Thai bank, make sure you select reason for transfer as Long Stay.
Forget Bangkok Bank, their terms are a bit abusive, and their app also has security measures that can conflict with the phone's settings and other installed apps.
Before you do it, price out exactly how much you need to pay in your home country currency to wind up with 800K THB in your Thai bank account. You may be surprised that the company that advertises the higher rate may not be the best deal. I can Swift transfer 800K baht from the US for a fixed cost of exactly 500 TBH (~15 USD).
Well I have a bank of Bangkok free transfer from com bank in Australia banking hours only over two fifty hopefully my stamp in my passport makes them happy again ect
Chris Dawson My st george also free but the lower exchange rate would make me pay almost 1000 Aus dollars more on 8k compared to wise even though wise has a fee still a far better rate .
Any Thai bank is ok, using Wise seems to do the job using bank transfer to pay Wise then money takes a couple of hours depending on who Wise uses for their transfer of your money. If you money urgent then use CC or bank card and money 8s in Thai bank acc in seconds but Wise charge more.
I have 2 bank account one strictly for visa and another for monthly spending Kasikorn and Krungsri work great. I use Wise to transfer money to both banks.
