How can I ensure my Wise money transfers are marked as international for my visa renewal in Thailand?

I have a problem with my monthly transfer.

I stopped using Wise, September last year, because their transferts were not marked with the international transfer code. By classic bank transfer, I got less Baht for my Euro.

A few months ago, someone stated that Wise has now an option, that you can choose the option, that the transfer is for long term living in Thailand, AND that you need proof of transfer.

So I tried Wise again, first with small amount and yes, it worked, got the right code.

Until...this month. Although, I selected exactly the same thing. But got again the local transfer code.

I cannot send the money again. I contacted Wise, to complain, they just said, something went wrong in their system, they felt sorry about it, only thing I could do is, even when I have a Bangkok Bank account, is to go to a financial center of Kasikorn bank, and get it solved there, with my Bangkok bank statement! Cherry on the cake, these centers, are not in my area, most in Bangkok.

Did someone solved this another way, by going to just a local bank, or get this fixed, at you own Bangkok bank office.

I have to renew my visa this month, so this stresses me. Thank you for replying.
Answer summary
A user experiences issues with their monthly money transfers via Wise, which are sometimes marked incorrectly, causing anxiety over visa renewal requirements in Thailand. Despite previous successes, the user is now receiving local transfer codes instead of international ones needed for visa documentation. Several comments suggest solutions, including visiting a Kasikorn Bank financial center for a verification letter, contacting SCB for a 'Credit Advice', or using alternative services like Remitly or OFX. Forum members share their experiences and provide various strategies to alleviate the stress of confirming international funds for immigration purposes.

Is anyone trying XE? I dumped Wise long ago but I just move money occasionally so I can't attest to regularly scheduled transfers.

We had the same thing happening to us for September 2025 and we only noticed it when we had 2 weeks left to renew our visa. We got freaked out! 😱 But what you need to do is get your bank statement from your bank, and you can also download the 1 year statement from Wise then go to Kassesart bank (has to be one that deals with international transfers), you show them the statements and explain to them that Wise just use them (Kassesart bank as middleman to transfer the money to Bankok and now you need a credit advice/letter from them to proof to the immigration that indeed the money came from Wise to them as a foreign transfer.

That should be good enough for the immigration. However, we were lucky and the person that dealt with our file at the immigration didn't ask anything further even though we didn't yet have that letter from Kassesart yet as they told us they have to get it faxed from a Kassesart bank in Bankok and we have to come second day for pick up. Hope that helps and good luck!

This happens to me also in September it showed that it went to a different bank then into my bank so it didn't count towards 65,000 baht method.

Wise claimed nothing wrong.

Same problem happened to me today. If you’re in the the Pattaya area, you can go to the K bank in Laem Chabang. Seems to be a fairly widespread issue with people banking at BB. You will need passport , Wise transfer confirmation, bank book and 200 baht. I’ll be switching to K bank soon.

You can obtain a Credit Advice' from Bangkok Bank which shows the money trail of your deposit funds. When you submit your application for a visa extension you include a copy of the Credit Advice' with your paperwork package. Thai Immigration accepts the Credit Advice as proof of a foreign money transfer.

Go to your Bangkok Bank branch, fill out a standard Bangkok Bank form to 'Request Credit Advice'. You can request the credit advice for any or all past Credit Advices for months that do not indicate an international transfer. You can also request that a Credit Advice be sent to you for future deposits in your account. The Credit Advices, past and future, will be emailed to you.

I have been using wise and putting the money in my SCB account. After the transfer is complete I call the SCB Call Centre and ask them to send a document confirming it is an international transfer. 3 or 4 days later the document arrives by email.

I don't understand , on initial application of a first visa you need to show 800k in bank account.

Then after first year, show 400k on some visas ,or maybe 800k again, so are you not best to just leave that money alone , or put it into a higher interest savings account , and open another thai bank account for doing ya daily spending and Trasfners from over seas if it's all to stressful and complicated ,all they really want to see is the money required sitting in the thai Bank account for visa extension renewal. No transfers from overseas should even come into the picture as you just need to show the funds.

Wise charges you a fee, as a percentage of the interbank rate but it has no other costs.

SWIFT gives you a better rate, if you send your currency, as you get the interbank rate but you will pay for the service and the receiving bank may charge you a fee to convert to THB, up to Bt500. Do NOT send SWIFT in the destination currency because if you do, the FX conversion is done in your country at whatever rate you agree with your bank (or you simply and stupidly accept their rip off rate).

From the UK, a SWIFT is about £20 and if sending £1700 a month (to be well sure it is above Bt65k) then the SWIFT fee is 1.17%.

However, we're only talking £240 a year or Bt10k a year in SWIFT fees.

I just checked WISE fees and they would be £12.24 on £1700.

So you'd save £7.76 a month or £100 a year to use WISE over SWIFT.

Mental to risk your visa for £100.

The latest version of the Wise app is offering the option of an international transfer receipt, and I guess that is what you’re looking for.

It’s on my other phone, but I will take a screenshot of the option page, next time I make a transfer.

I wondered what it’s for, because I don’t need it, but now I understand 🤓

I tried sending the 65k a month via wise and had the same problem, one minute it's international transfer next minute it's just a transfer from other bank (which isn't accepted), it turns out that money is sent locally through a kasikorn bank which is why it sometimes shows as a local transfer. Strange though cause some people manage it.

Mark Wright I used BKB for 6 years and on year 5 almost had to exit the country and start a retirement visa again as they said they could not deliver my annual statement because something went wrong internally. I had 20 days to deliver when I applied. My local immigration office eventually rang my branch direct and gave them a rev then they rang the BKB head office and it was at my branch the next day, 18 days later. Luckily I have had good interactions with my local immigration previously

Is there some recent breakdown with WISE??? For 18 months I sent funds from USA to BBK. The transfer generally took 30 min. Today WISE is quoting 11 hours fro the transfer after they pull funds from the USA bank. Then the 11 hours pass and the time to deposit the funds into KBank keeps being extended, hour by hour....any comments?

Mark *********
Braulio Escobar the problem lies in your name. You see these services are so fast because they are automated. When the computer sees the name ‘Escobar’ it most likely throws your transfer in to a pile to be checked by a human who will then look to see if you are an international money launderer or part of a drug cartel. It sounds stupid I know but I am sure that is why your international money transfers take hours and days when your friend Pablo Smith gets his in minutes.

I am confused because I use wise for my bangkok bank it's called a paper trail. It clearly shows money coming in from overseas account ? When I went to immigrations

I printed nothing and up-to-date statement. For the day.

There was no issue what do you need the code for
Mark ********
Mark ********
@Paul ************
the point is when you send every month it changes the code, sometime it says (the code) 'international transfer' sometimes it says 'transfer from other a/c'. If your proving income of 65k a month for 12 months or 800k it has to say international transfer for each one.

As stated by others, sometimes Wise routes the transfer via Kasikorn.

Take your Bangkok bank book and print out the Wise transaction detail and take these to a Kasikorn International trade desk. They can produce a letter verifying that the funds were an international funds transfer.

Immigration is familiar with the problem and will look for this letter from Kasikorn to verify.

(In my case, Bangkok bank was also able to use this letter when producing their 12 month international deposits letter, so all was well)

Wise is not a bank and for this reason they need a local partner/clearing house. It used to be Bangkok Bank but they changed last November to Kasikorn.

Do you mean not a bank in Thailand .? I believe they are classed as a bank in Australia . But I could be wrong
Mick *****
Mick *****
Peter Kortum I did mean Thailand but they are not a bank in Australia - not yet anyway. Wise holds an AFSL (Australian Financial Services Licence) licence in Australia and is authorised by APRA to undertake "payment services". This allows it to undertake some bank like activities. It however does not hold an Australian banking license and is prohibited from many other bank type activities such as lending money and funnily calling itself a bank. Worldwide though in many countries they are moving into the traditional banking sector and it is not a stretch that they would likely be doing this in Australia in the future.
