Looking at where to apply, New Zealand is the most expensive Embassy to apply at in the world - four times all other countries at 42,000 Baht / 2000NZD

Out of interest anyone here applied in NZ or did you fly out and choose an embassy in person approach?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion highlights the exceptionally high visa application fee of 42,000 Baht at the New Zealand Embassy in Thailand, which is noted as being significantly more expensive than applications in other countries. Participants express disbelief at the cost and share alternative approaches, such as applying in neighboring countries like Vietnam or Laos. One commenter recounted a positive experience applying at the embassy in Jakarta, Indonesia, indicating varying experiences based on location.

Go via Vietnam or Laos.

Thanks, certainly appears to be a good option - better to spend part of the extra 30,000 baht close by on a flight detour, hotels, food, local economy than in NZ

keep in mind BOTH the two thai consulates in Lao (Vientiane and Savannakhet) and the two thai consulates in Vietnam (Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi) require you book an online appt before you show up to get in the gate and apply for a visa there.

So definitely go to the website, READ the requirements of the consulate you're going to apply at before you turn up there πŸ™‚
