TLDR : Answer Summary
The community shared various experiences regarding visa processing in Thailand, emphasizing both the options of using agents and self-processing. Some individuals mentioned specific agencies and costs, like 29,000 THB for a NON-O visa through Cambodian inter, while others advocated for self-processing due to its cost-effectiveness (about 1,900 THB for visa fees and additional costs for bank letters), noting it provides a better understanding of the process. Positive experiences with immigration offices in Phuket and Phang Nga were also highlighted, as well as the availability of e-visas through certain agencies.

Unless you've got something very complicated to do just do it yourself. You'll save a lot of money and get a much better idea of the process involved. What visa are you trying to change/get/extend?

Gogs Kilpatrick so Iโm clear about what u are suggesting, u tie up 800k baht annually in a Thai bank account at 0% interest, trudge on over to immigration and take a number each year after collecting your paperwork and bank statements because you donโt have 14k baht to spend on somebody to handle it for u? This is the optimal plan?

Gogs Kilpatrick let me know what that means when you sober up tomorrow mate!

LJ Stuart No secret. That's what Bangkok bank charged me. Should be free really! ๐
I dont think like that with the money, agent option is essentially illegal although very common. I want to stay here legally my life is here so losing interest is never mind, the

0 for me is what i would keep in a current bank account anyway.
Cost of living here offsets interest lost in my opinion
It is a stupid rule but then there are lots of stupid rules here
it's different math for sure with marriage visa. But the agent option is definitely very legal. Not a thing wrong with it and zero risk. Lotsa good companies. Cost of living definitely offsets costs of many things. And if people have 65k monthly, the need for agent goes away. But if you need to lock up 800k to get a 1900 baht retirement visa, it's not the smartest move financially.
