TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around New Zealanders experiencing difficulties with the online application for a 60-day tourist visa to Thailand. While some participants note that the process should be straightforward with only a few questions, others highlight issues with increasing visa fees and suggest alternative methods, such as using exemptions or applying for a tourist visa from nearby countries like Australia. Overall, the comments reveal frustrations with the application process and the current cost of obtaining the visa.

Just had a look putting NZ in the application... its all very straight forward. No different to the requirements from the UK

Fly over to Australia and apply for it there. A lot cheaper

it's online application waste of a flight to Australia

They'd still need to show a flight out of Australia?

their address in new Zealand will give it away when they upload their paperwork so will not work

I'd be happy you can't get through the application. The prices have skyrocketed, and only for applications from NZ. Getting a 60 day tourist visa from there is currently not so viable.

The way to go is now to use exemption, extend, and if necessary, go to nearby country and return or buy tourist visa from there and then return, and potentially extend, all depending on how long you need to come. The latter is good for nearly 5 months.

The new streamlined application only has like 5 questions. What specifically are you having trouble with?

yes that’s right we have already booked our flights for 90 days but maybe we will change return flights

you can do a border bounce for an extra 30 days. Or legitimately visit another country after 60 days.

we are stuck on the uploading support documents. Made a mistake and can’t delete it or even view it. Also for flight support do we upload our whole flight itinerary? Would it be best to delete application and start again? Just found out the cost is $300 😳

yes NZ just raised the price astronomically. You can still arrive without a visa and receive a 30 day stamp and can apply once for a 30 day extension. If that will work for you, you might want to consider it.

Shouldn’t be any different than the other consulates around the world.

What’s the exact issue you are facing?
