Is there anything you need to do online before arriving in Thailand by air? I just want the 60 day visa on arrival.

TLDR : Answer Summary
If you are planning to arrive in Thailand with a 60-day visa exemption, there is currently no requirement for online procedures prior to your arrival. Upon landing, you will be issued a 60-day stamp in your passport at the immigration counter. However, ensure that you have proof of onward travel, as airlines may request it before boarding your flight. There are discussions about potentially reducing the visa exemption to 30 days, but this change has not yet been implemented. In the near future, an online arrival and departure card (TM6) is expected to be introduced.
You don't need to do anything ! When you arrive in Thailand you will get a stamp on your passport which says that you can stay in Thailand for 60 days.

I've entered twice this year. Once in January went to Cambodia and came back. They didn't even ask me a single question either time. 60 day stamp and on through... That was it.
well done - I think a lot of scaremongering goes on some valid some just keyboard warriors seeking attention.

If you are coming from one of the countries that receive 60 days visa exemption then no.

I just got to Thailand. You just show them your passport and they stamped it, I’m not sure what it’s called but it’s good for 60 days. I did nothing online before I came here

At present the T M6 online landing card seems to seem starting in May.
There seems no news on the ETA form...it was due in June.
As for the 60 or 30 day visa free entry the reduction to 30 days has been delayed".
This situation "SNAFU" is not unusual...just keep an eye on the Thai media.
read the ETA starts in July - was on the Thaiger website
Will *********
When did you read that? You need to supply a reference for that....
Thaiger are not very reliable - but the ETA was scheduled for June 2025, but then with the implementation of TDAC, this seems to have been put back. It's bad enough the Thai authorities implementing one digital system but to do two simultaneously seems rather foolhardy!

Ho pagato il biglietto aereo per 45 giorni a gennaio. Italia Thailandia ( partiamo a dicembre). Come mi devo comportare all’ aeroporto?? Devo andare all’ufficio immigrazione per estendere il visto? Oppure non serve perché a metà vacanza andiamo in Malesia per 8 giorni e poi rientriamo in Thai??
Grazie dei consigli.

Changing from 60 days exemption back to 30 days is under discussion, prompted by some tourism bodies. They claim an average tourists stay 14-21 days and that 60 days + 30 days extension is being abused.
That still has to be discussed somewhere (Ministry of Foreign Affairs?) and accepted.

Hello and thank you. I just saw they. Are only alllowimg 3o days at a time. In. Thailand. So confused. I am. French by passport. !!!! And. Living in USA for 50
Years. Am I good. To Stay 2 months. Only with my French. Passport
why hurry? If they go back to 30 day visa exempt It’s simple to just apply for the 60 day tourist visa online before you arrive and takes about a week to get. So still get 90 days.

Depends on when and for how long you are coming for. In one or 2 months (I am not sure of the date), you will need to fill out the arrivals card online before arriving. Sometime later this year or early next year, you will need to get an ETA.
Also, that 60 day visa exemption (it is not a 60 day visa) may be shrinking back to 30 days soon.
Again, all depends on when you are coming.

You don't need to do anything, just arrive and get the 60 day visa exempt stamp. Yes sure they are talking about changing it but thats all it is, talk. Thai authorities love announcing new rules and taking months to implement them, if at all.
Hi i am new to this site.i am currently in the philippines doing a 3 year stint , I am thinking of going to Thailand my question is and it is probably on here somewhere is how does the visa system work there now I know there have been some changes ,how long can I stay at a time , do I need to leave and come back in etc
after the second time, or possibly even after the first time leaving and then returning, people are being pulled out of line by immigration and taken for interrogation asking what they think they are doing. They are given a warning that this will be their last time entering and next time they will be denied entry. As I said, you cannot live in Thailand without a long term visa.
i don't want to live there but i just want to do a lot of reconnaissance ...so how many time say in 1 year are you allowed to re enter on a tourist visa.
ATM as I said you get 60 days on arrival which there is talk of it going back to the old days of only 30 days on arrival and either can be extended once only for 30 days for $1900 baht it will depend on if it changes and when you come.
Also as Brandon said you can not live here doing it, you would need to look into the correct visa that suits you situation.
It's called a 60 day visa free stamp...it isn't a visa they just stamp you in at the immigration booth.
When are you flying??
THey are introducing an online arrival and departure card (TM6) in May.
Also you might be asked for "POOT" - this is proof you will leave Thailand at the latest at the end of 60 days (a return flight ort flight out of Thailand) - usually the air;ine ask before you board or immigration could ask in Thailand.
Boarding card is what the airline issue at check-in or am I missing something. Also this digital TM6, if your network does not cover roaming for Thailand unless you buy an add on, then as in my case I suspend my pay as you go monthly subscription so I don't have to pay for the two or three months I'm in Thailand 🤔

Sorry , not "boarding card" - TM6 is the "arrival/departure card" - it used to be stapled into your passport by immigration. It has been discarded for several months to make it easier to process people at immigration.
however, they are now introducing an "online" version. the "TDAC"
How do you access this without an internet connection?
It seems that there will be kiosks at airports in THailand.
I don't know what they will do before you check in in you home country. Maybe the airlines will have some facility?
With the old system they used to hand out the form on the plane but there were still lots of people filling in the forms on arrival before proceeding to immigration.
Thailand has very bad at doing anything online, so I would expect all sorts of problems when it starts - people who didn't know, those who can't get online and of course the system itself not working.
I think Thai immigration are hoping that most people will use the e-Visa portal before they fly.-

If you arrive without one the airport has free wifi that you can access with you phone so you won't need any local account.
I'd also suggest that regardless of this you get a Thai SIM card or e-SIM for you phone before or after you enter Thailand - it's very cheap and convenient
There is no such thing as a 60 day visa on arrival. Visa on arrival is a 15 day visa that you apply for and pay for at the airport, and is only for a small handful of countries.
If you are talking about 60 days, then you are talking about visa exempt.
For the vast majority of people, they will only need to hand over their passport and boarding pass to the immigration officer to receive the 60 day stamp.
Do note that some airlines may require you to show proof that you have a ticket out of Thailand within 60 days before they will let you checkin to your flight.
60 days visa exemption is offered to passport holders from 93 nations. If you’re not among these you’ll need to a apply for a tourist visa to get a 60 days stay.
Onward ticket within 60 days is basically an airline issue rarely checked in the immigration and a changeable flexi ticket is a good option for a 90 days stay.
What is your nationality? Currently the citizens of 93 countries are visa exempt (that means you just turn up at the airport in Thailand and Thai immigration will just stamp your passport). You get 60 days, which can be extended a further 30 days by going to an immigration office in Thailand 3 or 4 days before the 60 days is up at a cost of ฿1900. Go to the immigration office before this to find out about passport-size photos and the TM30 form you get from your accommodation.
Just turn up in Thailand with your passport and a ticket out of the country. Currently good for 60 days, extendable for another 30 by going to a Thai immigration office in Thailand a week before the 60 is up.
There are quite a few immigration offices. Google maps for locations.
thanks for your answer - just wondering offhand if you know which airlines ask to view the return flight (we are travelling from Australia to Thailand)
it’s not based on the airline, it’s based on your travel history and the immigration agent. It is not uncommon for them to ask for where you are staying (hotel, Airbnb, etc.) and when you are leaving the country (follow on travel). They normally don’t ask for proof unless you show difficult to give information or if they have suspicions that you are abusing the visa exemption based on your travel history.
it could be any. There is no certainty that they will or will not ask. You will hear from plenty of folks that they didnt have an exit airfare and made it in-country and others who say they were checked. Your options can include doing nothing and hoping you make it, a cheap airfare from Thailand to one of the surrounding countries or even there are websites who will sell you an itinerary that will apparently stand up to a check but you will never fly with. - an option I have never tried.
no, it's not that simple. Some people even on the same airline are asked and some are not. Some at one airport are asked and some at another airport are not. Best to contact your airline for their official policy and have it ready if you encounter any issues at the airport.
and it’s probably best to just follow their rules to enter their country. Idk why many people ask best way to circumvent the rules and hope they get lucky 🤔😐
