Visa Exempt entry

From news sources today we have learnt that the Thai cabinet have approved the plan to revert visa exempt entries from 60 days to 30 days. As yet there are no published details of when this will happen nor specifics on which countries it may or may not include.

Until we get full details please refrain from speculating. Usually nothing happens until it's published in the Royal Gazette but because it's reverting back to a previous law that may not be the case.

As soon as we have details we will update on here.
Answer summary
Recent news has indicated that the Thai cabinet is planning to revert the visa exempt entry duration from 60 days back to 30 days. Details regarding the exact date of implementation and the list of countries affected have not been officially published yet. Community discussions express concern about how this change will impact those currently in Thailand and highlight various personal situations regarding upcoming travel plans. Travelers are advised to monitor official sources for updates and consider alternative visa options to accommodate the changes.

I see indians will have visa on arrival proceedings, no reverting to 30 from 60 days.

Does anyone have an idea why, and if this replaces the TDAC for them altogether.

Just curious.
Stuart *********

OP
Doesn’t replace the need for a TDAC. That is irrelevant for whatever entry scheme you have.

indeed. Any idea why they have VOA. That was the real question, really.

Paul Goreham either get a tourist visa beforehand (recommended, you have plenty of time from now until October) or apply for a 30 day extension in country (may be a huge hassle depending on where you are applying)
Paul *********
Paul *********
Only going to be 2 days over the 30 days ..I know it’s around 2000baht for the 30 day extension but how does tourist visa work ? And how much does it cost ?
Adam *****
Adam *****
Paul Goreham the change only takes effect 15 days from publishing in the Royal Gazette, so at minimum you have 15 days to apply for the tourist visa of needed

Checked and it’s £30 online ..have to wait until they change it back to 30 days though but I have lots of time yet , last thing I want to be is disrespectful plus I been several times now and still want to go more so I will do what I have to do so I can return 👍
Steve *******

Paul Goreham A Tourist visa is cheaper than an extension of stay and covers you for 60 days
Dave ******

Paul Goreham a few years back it was £25 so it will have gone up a bit although a more involved visa for retirement etc is still only £60 so I'd imagine it's no more than that. It must be an easy process as all the others are. Doesn't require high postage cost or travel to London (or Hull) as its all online and takes a couple of days at the outside. I'd recommend doing it that way. I definitely wouldn't recommend winging it and being an overstayer even for a couple of days. It's not a good look and it's disrespectful. Have a great time.

Paul Goreham check the Royal Thai Embassy website for your resident country. Single entry tourist visa gives you 60 days on entry

The change will take place 15 days after it is published in the Royal Gazette, as announced today

Adam Goh these Draft Interior Ministry Notices are NOT Published Today, and the Draft Interior Ministry Notices were not even considered (on the Agenda) of today's Thai Cabinet Meeting

true to form, they said it was approved during the Cabinet Meeting earlier today, but they didn't bother to even consider (have on the agenda) the Draft Interior Ministry Notices, so kicking the can down the road again!

Thailand is at least not a savage country. Thailand is highly civilized country. They keep the basic rules. new policy applies only for new applicants. But there are many uncivilized countries which do not care about this basic rules.

Mats Engström, the 60-day visa exemption is going to be reverted to a 30-day visa exemption, and the list of countries that can obtain it has gone from 93 to 56, a few countries were moved/removed from the 15-day visa exemption too. 60 day visa exemption isn't being changed to 15 days.

TVC work with immigration officers. If they are saying that this is happening, it's because they got the heads up as they always do. The only question is if it's gonna be the one time where it's happening right now instead of end of the month.
