What are the recent changes to the DTV visa application process in Thailand?

"Just a quick note on a recent DTV change, even if it doesn't apply to you.
DTV applications can no longer be made outside your passport country or permanent residence. That change is already in effect from 31 August."

Thailand made the dtv rules stricter to sieve out the riff raff. That's a very wise move.

TheBatman1234567890 Generally, the trouble makers aren’t coming for long term living. It’s a lot of the younger lot that come now for their short cheap holiday, who are causing most problems. The beg packers although they were stinky, cliche dressed and a bit annoying, they weren’t out fighting and stirring up resentment.

Obviously Nationals and expats can still apply for DTV from Laos/Vietnam and farangs can still apply for tourist visas if need be.

OPSad for whom already arrived at ASEAN countries for the purpose about or in progress on applying DTV. Especially someone already buy the air ticket, it means useless now.
