TLDR : Answer Summary
This conversation discusses the complexities and recent changes in Thailand's visa extension rules, particularly in light of the Covid-19 pandemic. Comments suggest visiting immigration for clear information, the importance of understanding specific visa categories (like Non-Immigrant B or O), and the process for extending stays related to upcoming deadlines and requirements, such as needing a letter from one's embassy. The discussion highlights the confusion among expats regarding new laws and extension procedures, especially for those needing their visas or planning to leave by specific dates.

Go home. Get a visa for Cambodia and move there next year.
No moronic visa issues, unclear instructions, corrupt immigration officers or complicated rules that no one understands. Just simple, straightforward visas and plenty of business opportunities.

If I were to leave on the sept 26th straight, do I need to go and report 90 days or don’t need?
you don’t need to do a thing if you plan to leave by 26 sept

Can anyone explain to me why the briefing on Friday. He stated that the amnesty program is extended until August 31 but waiting for approval. No mention of Sept 26.
. I didn’t read it. I think I misunderstood what he was talking about. He was talking about the emergency extension to August 31. I thought he was talking about the amnesty but it might have been something else. It was the briefing from Friday in the English version. It was on Thai visa forum.
Apply for the one month extension if you want to stay another 30 days after the amnesty finishes on 26th Sept. You can apply for that extension from the 1st August if you can get a letter from embassy / consulate.
oki thanks! I got confused by the phuket news hence the confusion.

Tourists have until 26th September and then added extensions would be case by case right?

Tod Daniels laid it out pretty clearly such that a kindergartner could understand it. You may want to read his original post (the one with the same shield you used on yours). Perhaps you’ve been told different things by many others, but if you spend a few hours of research on this group I’m sure you’ll hopefully be able to separate the wheat from the BS fairly quickly.
Those that likely will hit the hardest are people who hold a Non Imm. B or O Visa Multi-Entry who need a Border Run to gain another 90 day Stay. The Thai Border will likely remain closed. But even if opened a Border Run could be a costly venture fraught with obstacles... $100,00 USD Covid-19 Insurance Coverage, 14 day Quarantine on both sides, Covid-19 Tests.. .
It seems that unless some other relief - these O & B Visa holders will need to qualify for a standard one year Extension of Stay by meeting all requirements financial and otherwise. Plus such an Extension of Stay could have a price tag of 15,000 Baht (not 1900)... I paid 15K Baht last Monday for my one year B Visa Extension of Stay.
- I've been here 6 years - I know what 'tea money' is 😁

If you do not have a, realistic way of qualifying for some kind of Extension of Stay (usually) based on a Visa you have recently had... then make serious plans to leave - unfortunately.

Each visa is different. Better to check at immigration.
The document in English isn't exactly clear. like... it says "within" sept 26, rather then "prior to".

My understanding is if you want to stay longer you need to go visit soon, and depends on paperwork and reasons, but otherwise be prepared to leave by September 26th.
I was on non B which expired, and when CV started we decided to do two border runs and CV got worse. Now they say I am a tourist and must leave, even when I did the right thing for safety.
my non B expired and went to tourist visa. The intent was to get a new non B but we didn't want to travel due to CV. I have a business in Thailand, and letter from my embassy, but Immigration said no no no must go home, to yes yes yes, to wait and see. That was before this latest announcement. It was about the tourist visa, not doing the right thing and owning a business.
The other day, they were not sure.
I actually want to stay until next year, and I see it as pointless sending people back, costing thousands ($10k) when I could spend that in Thailand. Also not waste time in quarantine, and the risk.
. How is it impossible? It's very clear. It's the "exit strategy" from amnesty. It's clear they want tourists out, but are giving sufficient time to organise this. Long stay visas (non-imm) basically take their case for extension to immigration.
im talking about this Month you dont understand .. I know now but i was told to get s letter before the 31 th this Month for be able to stay and thats gonna be tricky
