TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is inquiring about the possibility of extending their stay in Thailand if the current 60-day visa scheme reverts to a 30-day visa before their arrival. Comments suggest that if the visa does change, users can apply for an extension of stay for an additional 30 days at the immigration office, though approval is at the officer's discretion. It is recommended to apply for a 60-day tourist visa online through the Thai embassy in London to avoid complications upon arrival and ensure compliance with any airline requirements.

Don't forget the TM6 entry and exit form which will be online from 1may ,(it's the form you could get on the plane just before you landed,) in Thailand, but now have stop giving it,up to 1may it's suspended, then online ONLY, all forms with tm6 sections are suspended till 1st may

IF it goes back (big if) and it's before you travel you are better off applying for a visa online before departing the UK, London embassy is super fast, 4 or 5 days, and you won't waste a day in a Thai immigration office, also airlines can refuse to allow you to travel if you don't have the correct visa, very unlikely but possible.

it's very simple, just make sure you have the airline ticket a copy of the first night's accommodation and a picture of your passport to upload.

You can apply for one 30 days extention of stay. It's not a given although rarely refused, it's issued at the discretion of the Immigration Officer. Fee 1900 Thai Baht.

If it does go back just apply for a tourist visa.

It's a proper faff doing it online. (I did it a year ago)

But better than going to immigration when there.

There’s no information indicating anything will change with the 30 days tourist extension. If the exemption goes back to 30 days you’ll have 30 days upon entry and still can apply for a 30 days extension. You can also apply for a 60 days tourist visa online through the Thai embassy in London before you leave.
