The discussion revolves around a sign posted at Chiang Mai immigration, with a focus on the complexities surrounding the extension of a 30-day exempt visa. Comments highlight confusion about the rules, particularly whether a 30-day extension can be obtained again after an initial extension, alongside humorous observations regarding the sign's English quality.

So can you extend a 30 day exempt after extending it another 30 days? I thought I read they got stricter on this? X
You entered with the 30 days Visa exemption, have done your tourist extension and can now apply for a Covid extension. Important to know that the tourist extension which you already got is never denied , but the Covid extension might not be granted why everyone should have a plan B, just in case ....

Jody Dayton Peace here special for you in English...
As an English Language Teacher in Thailand for 20 years and worked for and under Thai Teachers with Masters Degrees in English with less knowledge then the Primary School students. They all wonโt ask anyone for help or if what theyโre writing is correct. Oh by the way I do know Thai and will ask Thais for help.
Yes correct they will not ask for help but a stupid comment was made tell that Thai language is useless so , asking that person to write or read Thai before making any stupid remark
It was not a stupid comment. I am Dutch. English is not my native language. I don't expect anyone to learn Dutch. It's a waste of your time. Even if you live in the Netherlands. I don't plan to learn Thai either. Waste of time, I have better things to do. You can expect Thais who write something for tourists to speak English. That is not the case, but it is something you should expect. To me they are just stupid uneducated people. Even if I spoke the Thai language I wouldn't be interested in talking to someone who has so little education that he doesn't speak English.
. people dont seem to understand that concept. Lot of the time the same people who can't or won't learn to speak Thai are the same ones who complain about immigrants in their home country who dont learn the native language or ''assimilate"....but they never seem to see the irony....the very same folks who scream about multiculturalism being bad in their own countries, have no problem coming here and simply refusing to learn a lick of the local tongue/have no interest in learning about the culture they are living in.
